the first 15 - 20 mins were good the last 15-20 mins were terrible
I didn't expect it to be anything else but that...such is modern horror nowadays Saw Iron Man 2 on Saturday, nowhere near as good as the original and as much as Ms Paltrow was good in the first one, they really wasted her in this one. Mickey Rourke wasn't bad and Downey Jr kept it from turning into a complete borefest |

the building in which i work was supposed to be used in that film ... the pre-film people came in for a look around ... they ended using the building up the block a bit ... there were trucks of equipment and crews all over for a couple blocks around for about a week and a half... pretty cool ... now i have to see the film when it come on On Demand to see if i recognize it all ...

The thing is, horror movies (especially slashers) are supposed to be about a) scares and b) fun. Most modern horror qualifies more as torture porn than a fun movie. Especially NOES used to be one of those you just enjoyed as they were fun. In this one, Freddy Krueger actually is depicted as a child molester. This is neither fun nor scary...it just leaves you with a sick feeling...

i remember seeing the original Elm Street moons ago when it first went into a video shop... i guess it was ... just to see ... then a couple years back i became a Johnny Depp fan and when i found out he was in the first Elm Street i bought it ... 10 bucks... good deal i thought... hehehe... and watched it again ... the only thing i remember from the first time viewing was that tongue coming through the phone... lol ... and thinking that the guy was a child molester ... he was ... wasn't it ? ... it's the thought i get seeing those little girls jumping rope... isn't that why the parents got together and burnt the house down ?... i forget again already ... i sound like a child molester at my age ooogling such a young Johnny Depp !!! ... lol .. not to make light ... well maybe... pedophiles are disgusting and sick and men with the affliction should have amputation and women be stitched up ... there's no cure ... right ? anyroad... i always thought Freddie Krueger to be a child molester ... OH and i got another look at the new Freddie ... ? ... no way ... the other guy is WAY coolCreepier ... and last film for me was April Fools' Day ... a teen slasher film... hehehe... awww... wtf... right ? ... hehehe ...

The Banger Sisters - Goldie Hawn and Susan Sarandon
It was a great movie and I guess it helped that I love both these actresses too . |

Btw it's all about how it's depicted. In the original movie he may have been molesting the kids, but it was never a subject in the movie. In the new one this plays a big part. In one scene he's having the girl he used to molest pinned to a bed in a little girls dress and "plays" with her... would never have been possible in the original. |

The likeabillity of the character. That's a bit of a joke as he's a child killer, but he's still a popular movie monster. Weird huh Whereas I can't see the same character having the same popularity if he's a molestor as well as a killer. Think there's a line of decency there (and again, it's really weird when you consider that child killers are on the plus side of that line) that the average person really doesn't want crossed in their fiction. I haven't seen the film yet (and this is a good reason not to) but I can't see any artistic merit in the change in nature of the character. Did Wes Craven have any input/contol over this movie? |

Happy Wednesday meatie peeps ...
... The Fly ... starring Jeff Goldblum ... another remake... another change of character imo ... in the original imo ... the character was to be pitied a bit ... but in the remake the character seems evil ... it probably is more like a fly than human ... a fly caring only about its own survival rather than caring to anyone around it ...

Robin Hood
Not bad, a bit of a twist on the usual story, and it has one of my favourite actors in - Scott Grimes - who has a wonderful singing voice! |
