So after months of first publishing of the album... I don't think All Of Me is a good song. Still 6 from me.

After months of listening to the album I still think this is a brilliant song, as indeed is the album.
Love the new sound, love the theme of the album and the lyrics of all the tracks, and love the production which gives that "live" feel to the sound and does such justice to some terrific vocals from Meat. Meat's on a new creative high and I love it I find no complaint or fault with the album or any track on it. Love them all, love the sum of the parts even more. So this album and every track gets a big 10+ from me. Caryl |

It sounds so good! The whole album does. It differs vastly from Hang Cool yet the quality is there. Succeeded in more passionate level whereas Hang Cool was indeed passionate too but it was the experimental sounds and words that made it jump out of the Meat Loaf catalogue!

I still feel exactly the same way about this song as I did when HIAHB came out "OMG was this song written for me?" Was the feeling I got, still do.

My second favourite track from the album - very, very close to "Another Day". I love Meat's vocal (perhaps you know that from my other posts; I also love an entire album "Hell In A Handbasket") which is quite powerful and full of oposite emotions.
My score: 10/10 |

7 - the lyrics set the scene for the rest of the album very well.

Because this entire album is a rock-solid, enthusiastic 10 for me, it was incredibly hard not to just give every song on it a 10 also. I almost did anyway, and may tomorrow! :) I totally understand Caryl's point of view, and also liked Cathy Boston's idea of giving scores greater than 10, but I'm afraid that would just make the task more complicated for me, and no easier! The only way I could do this was to imagine a huge, vicious, brutally EVIL monster flying down and landing on my CD player and telling me he will crush my CD player in his beak, smash the CD, bite my hand, and even shred the autographed booklet, if I don't rate some songs lower than 10. So, under duress (but with all my fingers), here's my list: 10 All Of Me 10 The Giving Tree 9.5 Live Or Die 10 Blue Sky (1st) 9 Mad Mad World 8 Good God Is a Woman and She Don't Like Ugly 10 California Dreamin' 10 Party Of One 10 Another Day 9.5 40 Days 9.5 Our Love and Our Souls 9 Stand In the Storm 10 Blue Sky (2nd) 9.5 Fall From Grace |

Kathy, do you play a lot of video games or like watching old monster movies?

Is Meat Loaf's vocals weak or is he restraining his voice to show vulnerability? I'd rather someone struggle and strain through something and show off some emotion than to have "the studio" fix all the issues and make them clean. I'd like to know specifically what you consider "weak" about his vocals here?

If albums were books this would be the synopsis. I don't understand how he threw a dagger into his own heart though Perhaps because the negative reaction to his words, in the long run, hurt him more than anyone else? First time I heard the song I thought the lyric would have been "We all live under the same blue sky" which would have been good. In fact, I think it would have been good to have the opening song to reference the titles of the album. I'm not saying wether that work or not, but I think it's an interesting idea, especially on a concept album (and unlike HCTB, I can buy THIS as a concept album). Still "we all live under the same roof" is good enough Very catchy chorus, and I think this will be a good crowd pleaser at live shows. If RFTRL wasn't already in place as the show opener, this would have been good to kick off with. 8/10 |
