Who'd have thunk it?

Not a crocodile, not an aligator, not even a snake.

A bloody Stingray

Shame though, he was a very entertaining bloke to watch

Not going out tonight, but may I propose we all have a pint of snakebite at the weekend to see him off proper?

On a serious note, I hope Terri starts to take a less hands on role in the buisness now.

It's a very dangerous game at the best of times, but now those two kids have lost one parent, it wouldn't be fair to let them risk losing the other

God rest you mate

Very sad.

Especially given that only 1 or 2 people a year die from stingray related accidnets.

I heard him saying some years ago something like: "Everybody thinks IŽll be killed by a crocodile, so I have to be very careful to prove them wrong"

Just remembered a piece of Russian poem...of course, won't be able to translate it...but I think you can all get the gist...

Don't ever separate with those you love...
Don't ever separate with those you love...
Plant your roots firmly into them...
And every time say good bye forever...
And every time say good bye forever...
And every time say good by forever...
When you're leaving only for a while...

I'd just like to say re: him taking his baby son in wih the crocs: if the baby was in any danger, then Steve would never have done it. He was a professional and knew exactly what he was doing, he would never purposely have endangered the lives of those he loved most.
There is so much more I could say, but it's not the time.
A sad day indeed, he will be missed greatly.
R.I.P. Steve, what a legend.

What a way to go
Read this news article, it tells how he was stabbed in the heart and pulled it out just before losing conciousness and he was filmed doing it, what horrendous viewing that must've been . whether you like the guy or not you have to admit he was definately one tough cookie.

Absolutely....

On another article I read also, i think it was his manager, spoke about how he watched it back and said it was terrible, he was actually watching some one die as he pulled the barb out..... I also read some where on the net and before Steve was going to do this dive and things he was talking to his manager again and he said, whether true or not, that on land he was agile and quick, and knew what he was doing, but if there was one place he was going to go it would be the ocean......unberlievable

Like you say DJ, absolutely one tough cookie, but horrendous.

Didn't really watch any of his shows, but when you think he was only 44 and had the two kids, it is quite sad; especially considering only one other person has been recorded as dying from a stingray sting in Australia!
cared for crocs but not his kids mmmm something aint quite right there... neva liked him tbh but rip neway

Please tell me you're not insinuating that Steve did not care for his children?!
I don't usually get annoyed at things I read online, but I find that comment very harsh, uncalled for, and downright offensive. He loved Bindi and Bob to bits, and it was damn obvious.

I was gonna save my 1000st post, but Steve you deserve at least that dude. Hats of to you, you were one of a kind and have entertained millions around the world. I for one have great admiration for what you did.

If mankind were 10% as positive about life as you were this world would be a better place IMO.

And another one now. Aussie Motor Racing Legend Peter Brock has died in a Targa Rally in Western Australia. He was 61. Last weekend he attended by invitation the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK. He will be sadly missed here.

It's been a hell of a week: we have lost Steve Irwin, Colin Thiele (an author, most famous for Storm Boy, which some of you will know), Don Chipp (a politician), Peter Brock (a motor racing legend, and the face and name of motorsports in Australia), and today, Don Lunn, a DJ who made breakfast radio the way it is now.

On behalf of the Aussies, presumptious as this might be, thanks to you all for your commemoration of Steve.

And since his death was announced, 10 stingrays have been washed up on Austrailian beaches having been beaten to death adn had their tails cut off.

Yeah, there are a lot of lowlife scumbags out there. That blows goats, it's not on, and the majority of people around here are disgusted at that type of behaviour and response. GRRRRRRR....

Thanks for noticing. :)

killing animals out of revange for Steve... thats sick! He would not want that to happen. So don't call them fans from Steve!

Okay the guy was crazy, but he learnt me more about animals then my teacher at school. I really liked the way he toldes us about crocs... he was able to tell something good about every animal he could find. He was really in love with every animal he could found. Its sad this happened... also for his family and friends!
