Take That tipped for Wembley tribute to Diana
By Alexa Baracaia, Evening Standard 03.04.07 Invitation: Joss Stone will mark the 10th anniversary of Diana's death Never Forget: The princes would like That Take to perform by the princes Old favourite: rock stalwart Rod Stewart Look here too Could Sir Elton break Diana song vow? Harry's two-week holiday from the frontline...for his mother's concert Our tribute to mother, by William and Harry Take That, Keane and Rod Stewart are among the stars tipped to play this summer's Concert for Diana. Organisers hope they will perform with confirmed acts Kanye West, Joss Stone, Sir Elton John and Bryan Ferry at the event marking the 10th anniversary of the Princess of Wales's death. Other definite names include the English National Ballet, Duran Duran and Pharrell Williams. Bryan Adams and James Morrison are also being touted as possible additions. The concert will be held at Wembley Stadium on 1 July, which would have been the Princess's birthday. Princes William and Harry, who are overseeing the show, are reported to be eager to sign Take That after hearing how much the band thought of their mother. The band's Mark Owen has said: "Princess Diana was such an amazing woman. I think it's lovely the princes want to do something to remember her." A spokesman for the band today said they had not yet been formally signed up. But he admitted: "That's not to say they won't be in the future." Rod Stewart, a favourite of Diana's, and Keane are also possible, although they too have yet to be confirmed. To mark the Princess's love of dance and musicals, there will be an appearance by the English National Ballet, while Andrew Lloyd Webber will present a medley of songs from his shows. A memorial service will be held on the actual anniversary of her death, 31 August, but the princes said they wanted the concert because the service alone was not enough. "The main purpose is to celebrate and to remember her in a fun way," said 24-year-old William. "We wanted to have this big concert full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted." Sir Elton, who sang a reworked version of Candle In The Wind at her funeral in 1997, is said to be considering singing it again for the first time in 10 years. Performers will waive fees for the event and money raised will go to the Diana Memorial Fund as well as Sentebale, the charity Harry set up in her memory, and homelessness charity Centrepoint, of which William is patron. Tickets for the event sold out in 20 minutes in December, with many being resold for up to five times their £45 face value. the last one to post - I'll stop as you will probaly getting bored of this.. http://www.postchronicle.com/news/en...21272783.shtml
Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, Kanye West and James Blunt will perform at Princess Diana's tribute concert. The late Diana's sons Princes William and Harry have invited a host of musical stars to appear at this summer's Concert For Diana, including Meatloaf, Bryan Adams, Pharrell Williams, Orson, Joss Stone, Take That and Keane. Elton, who sang at Diana's 1997 funeral, said he was "thrilled" to be taking part. Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon is set to perform a duet with Justin Timberlake. Newly reformed Take That revealed they idolised Diana, who was killed in a Paris car crash in 1997. Mark Owen said: "Princess Diana was such an amazing woman. I think it's lovely the princes want to do something to remember her." Organisers are trying to convince Dire Straits - one of Diana's favourite bands - to appear and the Spice Girls are also rumoured to be reuniting for a special performance. |

Well I sincerely doubt there's much chance of Elton doing Candle in the Wind 97 again, given what the concert is supposed to be about.
I'm slightly dismayed that Genesis have not been mentioned at all, beginning to look like they won't be there at all. And Phil was so damned good at the Party at the Palace too... But even if Meat pulls out al stops, all in all this looks like it won't be a patch on the Party at the Palace. |

All the stories I've seen in the press haven't even mentioned Meat as a possible act so don't hold your breath.

He really liked her, said she liked talking to someone who wasn't involved in the bullshit that she was there for. He was a security guard at the opening of the Barbican Centre in London, he met and talked to the King of Spain as well, must've been one hell of a boring night if the security guard was worth talking to lol

When I was a baby, I was very ill with a heart problem. I was in Great Ormond Street and Diana visited the hospital. She talked to my mum for quite a while, said I was a cutie and kissed me on the cheek. That act of kindness and caring meant everything to my mum in a difficult time, and she was devastated when she died. I was choked as well.

Damn right its an amazing hospital. I could spend an entirety on here telling u what it did for my kid brother, but lets just say they performed operations on him that they'd never done before. The time I've spent in there over the years will never leave me, because seeing children that ill never does leave you. Diana was the perfect person to represent that place, it really does perform miracles. I hope Meat does her justice.
