Last movie I saw was the final episode of Columbo. I wonder why Columbo hasn't been promoted for more than 30 years. |

awww RIIIGHT !! ... we (as in my husband and i and not in speaking as the Queen... hehe) finally watched not one but TWO films actually made within the past year and half... YAY FOR US ... okay ... last night ... A Special Relationship ... that being between the loverly and very much missed former PM Tony Blair ... and "i know he's a bastid but i can't help it ... he's so likable ... i like him !" ... former President Bill Clinton ... Tony B was once again played by Michael Sheen (he was loverlying in The Queen) ... and Dennis Quaid (such an interesting choice !) portrayed Bill Clinton... very well ... husband and i both enjoyed it immensely ... even if you've only had a fingertip on the pulse of that time period you sit and wait for the events to happen and look forward to hearing discussions behind closed doors ... ie... Monica L ... omgoodness ... anyroad... it was a story of friendship... in particular how Mr Blair stood by Mr Clinton even through the Monica L issue ... not just stood by him but pulled his arse out the fire !! ... i think too it was a bit of a telling of the love stories of the two world wide power couples... the Blairs... and Billary ... the actresses portraying Mrs Blair and Hillary (i'm sorry but i need to check their names) ... were just out of this world as well !!!
then this morning... Public Enemy... Johnny Depp as John Dillinger... after the initial excitement of my "omgawd it's the deppie one!!"... i got lost in the character because ... as always... JD just vanishes and is who he is portraying... okay ... a couple times i saw George from Blow and Sweeney Todd peek out... hehehe... but otherwise... two thumbs up to JD... it got a bit slow in the middle... but picked up to the sky with the chase ... FBI after Dillinger... he evaded them so many times... it was heart gripping ... a bit of a love story there as well ... you know... a love interest for Dillinger... all in all... we enjoyed that as well... and it's taped... (half price on On Demand... fine job !!!) so i can watch it as many times as i like !!!... whew... and ta.. if you've gotten this far... lol ... i'm just excited i had more to say than... hehe... "From Hell... again" ... ... |

District 9, very good, although the camera angles and moving about a lot did piss me off a bit. Liked the new take on an Alien film, with a very interesting storyline.

Happy Wednesday meatie peeps ...
... as i said in yesterday's post ... the last film viewed was a remake of The Stepfather ... what i found interesting about it this time around is the use of modern technology ... i don't know the year the original was filmed but it was prior to the computer/ cellphone age i'm sure ... that's what struck me ... i enjoyed it for what it was ... the eldest son was likeable finally ... i don't think the stepfather in this one was near as creepy as in the original... the actor Terry ... last name along the lines of Quinn something ? ... the actor on Lost he is ...was way creepier ... when i'd hear him whistling Camptown Ladies ... i'd get goosebumps... in a bad way ... lol ...

Charlie Wilson's War
very clever. Didnt think it was possible to make a comedy about the political background of the russian-afghanistan war of the 80s, that's touching, intelligent and funny. Citizen Jane didnt expect a lot from this one. I was pleasantly surprised. Once again the Loaf played a part that couldve drifted off into a cliché quickly, yet he handled it very good. The second half of the movie was kind of a let down though, too predictable IMO. |

Robin Hood,
it was good, ignore Crowe's accent, since everyone did when he was in Gladiator, it's a good film without being fantastic. Good chemistry between Ms Blanchett and Mr Crowe. |
