I watched Alice In Wonderland, the deppie one as the Mad Hatter and it was DELICIOUS !!!! Mother-in-law had no interest, husband said he liked it, cried a bit (he's a very emotional man... lol ... ) I cried a bit, laughed a bit and totally loved it. I think it would have been a bit overwhelming for me if I'd seen it on a huge screen as well as in 3-D. I'm so old and old school ... lol ... I really don't need all that. Loved it and will watch it again ! |

Speaking of sanity, I'm delving into the mind of Mr. Tim Burton with The Nightmare Before Christmas - it's the fault of that blooming' advert on TV at the moment, but I can't say I mind too much ;0) |

The Fog
as with most carpenter movies, I can see how this must have been terrifying in its day, but it doesnt really stand the test of time as a horror movie. A few good scenes, but overall was too slow and too little tention. (I really like The Thing though, that's the JC movie that breaks the rule!) |

Watched Being John Malkovich last night.
It wins the f*cked up movie of the year award from me. Seemed very slow and drawn out to start, but pretty damn funny at times. Some scenes needed playing more than once, especially when Molkovich becomes Malkovich. I think this movie warrants a second watch at some point |

Neil I just got around to watch the original Dawn of the Dead. Gotta say it's quite good, I still prefer the remake though. Its the cheap effects (zombie makeup for example) that makes it unintentionally funny at times. Also I think running zombies are much more frightening!

Most of all it's pretty goofy lol. Running zombies was a pretty radical idea, but I think things went too far in Land Of The Dead where a zombie starts acting like a leader and thinking and problem solving. Goes too far for me when zombies can engineer explosions. |

Running zombies suck in my opinion. George A Romero thinks so too.
A slow moving army of the undead which grows ganging up on you and eventually surrounding you is how it should be done imo. The remake of Dawn of the Dead is completely forgettable. Nothing interesting going on. Original is one of the best, if not THE best Zombie movies that will ever be made. RJ you are simply discovering this stuff far too late imo. |

maybe it's just a generation thing... Same with Halloween. I never understood what was so great about this movie. I guess today we're spoiled with so much action, shock and gore that the old stuff doesnt scare us anymore...
regarding running zombies: In movies like the Dawn remake or 28 days/weeks later the zombies are scarier because they act like wild, ferocious (sp?) animals, not like a bunch of people who just broke out of a retirement home... |

28 Days was a genius film and I absolutely love it.
I actually like the zombies when they're slow and shambling but as they begin to smell blood or sense human activity, their speed increases as they begin to act like feral animals to slake their thirst. Love that! On a side note, I am currently enjoying The Walking Dead. Anyone else watching that? |

28 Days later was good. 28 weeks was only disturbing in my opinion. Seeing a woman tied down to a table having her eyes pressed out is one of the most awful things I've ever seen. It's nothing to do with quality horror in my opinion.

Sometimes They Come Again, I think it was called. It was based on something written by Stephen King. Michael Gross and Hilary S~~~~ starred. It was creepy and icky and I liked it, not loved it, just liked it ... lol ...

Took me a while to work out the deleted bit
Not watching movies at the moment. Jo and I are half way through season 5 of Supernatural. Have just got season 4 of Frasier too, so don't know when we are going to get back to movie land. |
