ACK... I watched a film called Mother's Day ... Every minute I devote thinking back on it adds to the minutes wasted watching... oh dear... Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston... I like these ladies' acting but the film tried too hard to be feminist and politically correct ... What a shame ...

Suicide Squad
I don't think there is a decent superhero movie (or tv show) made this century, which is no suprise as they are basically all the same. So I had my hopes on Suicide Squad. It tended to be different. Well it was but this movie soon got lost in it's own effort, making it a rather messy movie. I liked the intention but the result is pretty poor. Too many issues that could have been prevented. 5/10 Last edited by Adje; 26 Aug 2016 at 02:24. |

The Survivalist.
Too dull and long drawn out. Just like the Road. Both very meh. Would rate something like Kevin Costner's forgotten Postman movie much higher. Much more to see and think about. Had an amazing score too unlike these two dull before mentioned post apocalypse movies. |

Lights out
Ok, nothing too special. Since I have a cinema unlimited card it was worth the time. About a woman ghost who can only appear in the shadows. Don't want to spoil anything but there is a part where a guy goes away to get the police. I would have found a 24 hour store and strapped 50 torches onto my body pointing in all directions. The Apparition Started of really well I thought. Nice subtle Poltergeist events, much better than The Poltergesit remake in fact as that was a joke. Second half of movie was a let down though and just went with the ridiculous rather than stick to subtlety which I find much more scary and enjoyable. Main actress was very pretty. Day of the dead (2008 ) Didn't know this awful remake of a near classic existed. Utter disgrace. Could only bear to watch 20 minutes of this all over the place crapfest. Better sticking to George A Romero's original zombie movies, the thriller music video and maybe Shaun of the Dead, everyone else does a terrible job and they think zombies come from a disease/super powerful rage rather than the more scary original limited ability undead idea. |

I also saw Suicide Squad the other week.
I thought it was ok. Didn't have huge expectations. Worth a watch I thought. I'd rate it maybe a 7. Funny in places which you'd expect. The plot is ridiculous though and perhaps should have had a better build up but did like the ghost woman character and Poison Ivy. The new Joker seems better than I thought he'd be but nothing like the very scary and perfectly acted Heath Ledger rendition. Batman was hardly in it which was a shame I think. More just a cameo. Can't see how many of the characters Will Smith keeps playing (here a criminal assassin with perfect gun shooting abilities) doing anything good to help his quest in getting more recognition for African Anerican actors. He does nothing to break stereo types and probably makes things worse. |

The Nice Guys.
Decent enough thriller. Not too complicated but very funny. Gave me a few great laughs 8/10 |

Watched it before on bluray on TV. This was the first time I watched it on big moviescreen with my beamer. Never new there was so much detail hidden in the picture |

The Funhouse Massacre
Not bad for a halloween slasher flick. Some nice gore scenes. The comic part wasn't that funny but I enjoyed it the way I expected it to be. 6.5/10 |

Dark Skies
Hmmm. It was decent. Not scary but it had a few intense moments. The 'twist' was very predictable. The only really good thing about the movie *SPOILER ALERT* was the not happy ending. 7/10 |

Two forgotten John Carpenter classics
Prince of Darkness (1987) Had not seen it in over 20 years. Still kind of creepy but the editing was a mess. Too many unclear actions and loose ends. 6.5/10 They Live (1988 ) The late Rowdy Piper in this typical Carpenter movie. Always fun to watch 8/10 |

I used to love Tarantino movies. But nowadays I often find them dragging. 6/10 |

Overall there are two genres of movies that I not really enjoy. War and Western. Going to watch the last Star Trek movie tonight. |

Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Perhaps even better than Sar Trek into Darkness (2013) but not as good as Star Trek 2009 (Don't really care for the other Star Trek movies) Anyway, fast paced mindless fun 8/10 |

The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967)
Roman Polanski's masterpiece. Funny and scary. I believe Sharon Tate's last role before she became victm to Mason's murdering cult. And of course the movie were Tanz der Vampire is based on. 9/10 |

Another great John Carpenter movie. One of my guilty pleasures. Sam Neill is superb! 7.5/10 |
