I've no idea if it was or it wasn't, it just looks it could've been part of a bigger story.

Found this on the CanMag website. I especially like the "stay tuned for updates". There are many of us who would like to think the movie will eventually see the light of day!:
As a fan of Meat Loaf’s music, my heart broke when I read in his autobiography that he made a movie based on the Dead Ringer album that never got distributed. The film featured Meat Loaf performing the album’s songs in concert, and playing a Meat Loaf look-alike in a parallel story. Meat Loaf on Lost Dead Ringer Movie Even as a curiosity piece, the movie sounds awesome, but Meat Loaf couldn’t even tell me whether even a bootleg copy still exists. “Not that I know of,” he said. “I’ve never seen it.” The Dead Ringer album was considered a dud after the smash hit of Bat out of Hell, but fans like me have warmed up to it. With Loaf’s current performances focusing on the Bat out of Hell albums, the lost film could be the only chance to see Dead Ringer songs performed. “Yeah, that’s what was in there. That’s the songs that were in that movie. No, I have no idea where that movie is. I think Jim Steinman’s manager does but that’s it.”With Meat Loaf’s popularity exponentially larger with new generations of fans today, it is surprising that nobody has tried to resurrect the film on DVD. “It actually showed in whenever we did that, ’81, at the early stages of the Toronto Film Festival. So it actually had an airing. Somebody wrote about it. So I don't know how you’d research that but it did play one time. But it’s a real mess. The people took it out of the hands of the director and took it out of the hands of me. Crazy people took it over.” Stay tuned for updates. |

If anyone has a premium account on IMDB, you can find out the contact details of the director, or anyone closely related to the film, maybe you could send them a leeter, and hope for a reply of information, maybe they might know, usually a director would know, where his film has ended up.
