Why is it that expensive? I saw replicas of Rory Gallagher's famous Strat being offered for less than 3.000 €. I'd pay that much and more for a guitar Stevie Ray or Rory really played but a copy I can build myself.

Yes, indeed. I always have to giggle when I think of that comment.

I prefer scuffing my own guitars to buying a new one that just looks as if it has been used for ages. Maybe Fender will build replicas of my guitars one fine day, LOL. (Nah, I'm afraid I'm too lazy to ever become a really good player. )

It is pretty pricey...apparently, Fender bought the original (for $600+ K) at auction with proceeds going to the Crossroads Center; maybe some of the profit goes there as well? Or, maybe they want to recoup their cost?
