Yeah Vicki, you are one of the nicest, kindest people on here. I lost my grandad a few years back to cancer, so I am utterly discusted that this guy has done this, what a terrible, horrible thing to take advantage of peoples good nature. Pathetic I think.

although the whole story is horrible, let's try not to sink to his level here. I know it's impossible not being bothered by this, but try to keep personal attacks to a reasonalbe amount. Otherwise he'd actually have a point about being harrassed on the forum.

We should all learn from this, but we shouldnt let it ruin our (cyber-) life and friendships made through this site.

I am pleased that the forum mods have dealt with this situation, it could have been much worse, were it not for the excellent work that they have done.
So thank you once again.

Though you have a point here I doubt pretty much any of us here could be accused of sinking to his level. Harrassing / bullying / making fun of, call it what you will is completely different than outright fraud.

It's not something we've really had a problem with.

I hope that this wont ever stop things like genuine fundraisers taking part in events or caring people taking part in these events or notifying us on here if they are involved.
I think the considered position should be that before any fundraising activity is allowed to be posted the person involved should notify a mod by IM and provide something to show it is genuine, something that anyone who is honest wont have a problem with. I accept that occasionally scammers would do things like make up fake letters etc on their computers but these can easily be checked with something as simple as a phone call or email to the organisation the money is being raised for because they all keep records of any genuine activity on their behalf.

I believe that Meat himself would not wish incidents like this to affect any genuine organisation or person

Perhaps Meat was trying to give him guilt

He has a Think Pink amp on stage certainly. It's fairly well known, certainly amongst Meat fans, that Meat frequently sponsors cancer charities (particularly in the light of his mother's illness). Mouse suggested AJ may have been angling for a VIP package of sorts, (something which leapt from the page to me also) and the scam may have been so designed to attract Meat's attention/support.

He clearly did meet and talk with Paul. If Meat had seen anything on here before the concert, or was apprised of the tale by Paul, I can imagine Meat having nothing but concern and sympathy. He has a kind heart and always responds caringly to people who have disability or serious illness. I've seen that so often; saw it at Hershey this summer.

Yes we have to be careful but not let ourselves become jaded. As I recall Vee and how the Meat Loaf community gave to her and grieved with her.

vBulletin does not have an interface to monitor and/or access private messages. What the the admin control panel allows you to see is the number of stored private messages per user.

However, as I have physical access to the database where all content is stored, I can very well access those messages using a proper set of queries. But in this particular case it's way more efficient to reset the user's password, log in and simply browse the messages.

Very interesting .. thanks R.

Do you have any ideas / or suggestions of how I can delete my membership
on his forum without having to actually contact him It's a free forum developed using http://www.phpbb3now.com/

The reason I'm asking is that he sent me a PM on there asking why I deleted him from my friends list on FB. I didn't reply to his PM there, and don't want to have any more contact with him.

Thanks, Vicki

I'm afraid you can't delete it yourself, only administrators can delete member accounts.

I've often wondered if he gets the javascript pop up too when he logs on. It must be as irritating as hell if he does!

I was one of the first ones and, unfortunately, had to leave after
my picture. So I missed seeing Laurence and Meat's interaction with
Karen's little girls. But I agree with you tink ... I just love watching Meat
interacting with the other fans that haven't met him before, and this
was one of the best M&Gs for me too

And I'm so glad you and the woman both had such a great time

I giggled like a girl at some rubbish joke Meat made to try and set me at my ease when I met him at Broadlands in '08. The guy was a true gent and I found myself totally overwhelmed by his presence, despite his obvious desire to be easygoing with us. I was a dick and completely pathetic in my lack of response but I was starstruck, well and truly!!
