my only thoughts when watching the performance were:
*Kat McPhee's voice didn't suit Meat's
*Meat wasn't fantastic, but i think he would've sounded betterif he sang solo or with Patti.
*I don't think Kat knew what to do with him (she was trying to sing, he was trying to entertain)
I maybe wrong on this my memory of it is pretty vague by now.

Don't forget that that particular performance should have been all about Meat Loaf supporting Kat MacPhee and not the other way round.

So although I don't disagree with what you're saying about Patti, Kat didn't know what to do with Meat etc It wasn't to put the spotlight on Meat but to put the spotlight on Kat.

I agree here with Pud, I think alot of people forgot who this performance was supposed to be focused on. Meat ain't used to being the support, and he would not have wanted to take away the limelight from Kat.

I think the song was awesome and Meat Loaf sang great! I've actually seen Celine Dion sing that song live and beleive me, it was dreadful. Halfway through the song she gave out a massive wave to the audience and then began to smirk and laugh. She then sang the rest of the song with a gaping smile on her face -Dreadful, Dreadful, Dreadful-.

My point is that Meat sang it with so much more conviction and emotion. Basically, he sang it the way the song is meant to be sung!

Sounds like the typical good voice - no idea what the song is about - no idea how to show the emotion/drama that is conveyed in the lyrics and music - singer to me. There's so many of them. None can hold a candle to Meat IMO.

On another note, has anyone seen this. There are some very good comments about Meat and there is even someone who claims to know him. Check it out.

Those comments are a bit more in line with what most people will have thought IMO. Not this "I love Steinman I hate everything Meat Loaf does" attitude that I have seen posted around. Also the press were having a field day I thought, but they often do when Meat performs, I'm used to that pathetic nonsense.

I felt in a similar way. I think these comments are what most people would have thought who watched the show.
