Have you heard of that new band?
This is the BIGGEST reccomendation you will ever hear. If you LOVE Meat Loaf, then I think a lot of you would like "Evanescence."
They are an amazing band that are really new. They write this dark rock type of music, that reminds you of "Bad Attitude", but I feel its better than Attitude, quite often (Did I Say That? ) This is why I think they are awesome: 1)Their singer (Amy Lee) is really amazing for her voice. She can sing soft and loud, and still sound like a dark angel. Its really something you have to hear to believe (I'm stilling learning words, but I can tell you they DO make sence. :) 2)Their music, has some beautiful soft piano, and even loud piano. Full of slammng guitars like Bad Attitude, and even tones down some. It even has a little chants every now and then. Just when you thought it was quiet, the song rips into an incredible jump of heavy melodic rock, which sounds nice to hear (My Immortal is the song) 3)though their songs aren't as long as Meat's, you have to notice, how this girl can sing (like meat). If Patti didn't make it to Bat III (which I know she has too ) then the next best would be Amy Lee. Because they are amazingly both people. Amy is only 20 years old, and singing full and strong like our Patti :) 4)The band met Amy Lee in a summer camp, playing the piano singing "I'd Do Anything For Love." Since then they have been play music for a while. I really reccomend them folks. You won't be disapointed :) (maybe, but i really really doubt it. This opinion was brought to you by RSG, who thought he would just reccomend it to the board. This is nothing to TELL you to buy the record, just give a think about :) "Fallen" By Evanessence. They also received 5 Grammy nominations. |

I like the video to "Bring me to life", and the "Fallen" album. :) I'm guessing that you would like the band "Edenbridge" then as well...!

No, I don't think I heard of them (yet)
But anyways, they're not that new... they've been around since '98, with their debut album "Origin" being released in 2000 And no, I don't think that "Fallen" sounds anything like Bad Attitude. It's heavier, and way darker. |

What am I missing? I don't get it. . .
The vocalist sounds really nasal and whiney sometimes. The lyrics are, fairly trite, and the instrumentals fail to grab me, they just seem like noise merchants with the odd piano, string arrangement thrown in. . . So please, enlighten me. (I have heard the album 'Fallen' all the way through, just so you know). |

Please, don't Evanescence! I don't like them! But Rhapsody, Stratovarius or Trans-Siberian Orchestra are great! The female singer of Rhapsody is really great!

I absolutely can't listen to Rhapsody. I think the singing is horrible, the music mediocre at best, and the lyrics? Pure cheese. But if you like them, good for you. And indeed, Trans-Siberian Orchestra is great. They've got the only two Christmas CDs I can stand, and Beethoven's Last Night just plain rocks. If you like them, I suggest you should check out Savatage, where most of the musicians from TSO come from. Paul O'Neill (the TSO-mastermind) is their llongtime produced / co-songwriten / 6th Beatle / whatever. |

Bought "Fallen" by Evanescence and it is a great album.
Didn't see the live shows but reports say the sound was strangely perfect. Nevertheless it is a haunting album, even for old folk like me. Mike |

On the plus side, a friend who went to the same show said there were better then when he saw them earlier in the year on Pinkpop. A lot 'tighter'. And Amy has a lot of energy on stage.... I had a fun evening, but it could (should?) have been better. |
