Default Is Meat Heavy?

According to some article (that can be found HERE) the explanation of Heavy Metal occurs. Someone has classed Meat as Heavy. Now for as long as I've been a Meat Loaf fan I would never have classed his music as Heavy.

Quote:
An example of a heavy metal (band) is Metallica, and on the other end of the spectrum, Electric Light Orchestra.
Steve Barrett, Glenbrook

Strictly defined, these are mostly very poisonous metals heavier than rare earth metals. Non-heavy metals is the usual term for the lighter ones. More generally, the term specifies the metals between copper and lead on the periodic table, including many essential to life, and excludes the radioactive ones. In even looser medical terms, heavy metal poisoning might include light metals such as beryllium.
Paul Roberts, Lake Cathie

The 1960s rock band Iron Butterfly with the album In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida whose title song takes up an entire side are arguably the initiators of heavy metal. Black Sabbath are light in comparison.
Con Vaitsas, Ashbury

Heavy Metal: Heavy = Meat Loaf. Metal = Ozzie Osbourne. All else is light metal.
Peter Lewis, Kingscliff

I thought Meat is classed as "Hard Rock" (with BOOH1). Nowadays with CHSIB, it would be more POP

Meat is not heavy. THe bat albums are more a rock opera kind of thing. Certainly not heavy metal i think. But in some shops you can find him between those cd's. Think it is a combi of rock, pop, heavy, opera, classic.

About the topic.. thought you were talking about his figure hahah.. was going to say.. .i'm never gonna lift him haha.

I always thought of Meat as heavy. In his vocal deliveries and most his live numbers are great too. They don't always mean heavy as in Metallica but Heavy in its material-wise and how its performed with a thick sound.

I feel some of CHSIB is pop-esque, but when I think Pop music Im thinking Cyndi Lauper & Madonna.

how i wonder is pop music defined?
cause i listen to it and there's some really nice guitar licks an riffs in CHSIB. Kas's bass work is great, though lately I been taken a real shine to Steve Buslowe's work. (sp?) His bass stuff is really up to speed ! Drums are great, but nothing really outstanding. Vocals no doubt are one in infinite -The hardest working performer! (imo) The material... the writing is near-excellent. The passion is all there, and only some of the songs sound pop-esque, the rest I put on my own category, The Island of Meat Loaf

The bat albums are rock, CHSIB has Do It which is Heavy, love that song....
I think Meat can do all these styles because his voice is just excellent.

OK, Meat is soft rock in my opinion. It is not heavy, in fact he only come close to heavy when singing BOOH. He goes for the softer and in some ways, more operactic approach and it really works. His music is yes, way over the top and in some cases just simply ridiculous but thats why i love Meat Loaf. Never has an artist shamelessly sung such songs that other artist would just laugh at and makes them sound brilliant. Nobody can sing like Meat Loaf and no body can sing Meat Loafs songs like he does without making them sound like what they are, and that is OTT and ridiculous. That is not a bad statement it is simply a statement from somebody who clearly respects Meat Loaf for his ability to make cheesy songs sound real and emotional aswell as giving them an edge which makes people like us lot get addicted to them. Every Meat Loaf song has an emotional core which Meat Loaf always seems to find and he sings them with such style and flare. Thats why in 1993 Meat Loaf got the grammy for HIS vocal performance... I didn't see Steinman getting the grammy for his writing. Sorry that was a bit off the ball but i thought i would just send a message to all the people out there who say that Meat Loaf would be nothing without Steinman because that is untrue. Dont get me wrong, i do love Steinman aswell..... I'll shut up now

Meat Loaf ROOOOOOOOOOOCKS!!!!!
