Meat to appear at Princess Diana Tribute Concert?

TAKE THAT TOP BILL AT DIANA TRIBUTE

TAKE That will top a sensational line-up of stars at this summer's tribute to Princess Diana.

All the performers for the sellout event have been approved by Princes William and Harry.

They include James Blunt, hip hop megastar Kanye West, Keane, James Morrison, Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams.

William said: "We want it to represent exactly what our mother would have wanted.

"We wanted this big concert full of energy - full of fun and happiness."
Last night, an insider said: "They have put an immense amount of effort into the concert.

"They've personally selected acts they knew their mother loved in her lifetime and some newer ones they felt she'd have appreciated."

Take That offered their services when they heard what the princes were planning.

Mark Owen said: "Diana was such an amazing woman. I think it's lovely they want to do something to remember her."

Orson and Meat Loaf will also join previously announced stars Elton John, Joss Stone, Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran, Pharrell Williams, Andrew Lloyd Webber and the English National Ballet for the event on July 1.

The day would have been Diana's 46th birthday.

Organisers are even trying to get one of her favourite bands - Dire Straits - and the Spice Girls to reunite for the show.

Robbie Williams and George Michael, who attended her funeral, have also been invited.

A crowd of 90,000 will pack the new Wembley Stadium for the show. Millions will watch as it is broadcast live on BBC1.

Tickets sold out within 20 minutes of being made available in December.

Cash raised will go to the Diana Memorial Fund and other charities.

Where's this from?

Meat's not mentioned on the official website for the event but they've only got 7 artists on there so I'm not sure that that means a great deal just now...

Tickets are sold out but apparently more go on sale after Easter...

Sorry, it's the first 7 confirmed artists they have on the site so presumably that list will gradually extend itself

Having got everyones hopes up somewhat with this, need to remind everyone that there is nothing official at this stage other than the one article on the Daily Record.

Having looked into it a little more and thought about it, the official concert website states that each artist will likely perform between one and three songs each. So over a 4 hour concert that doesn't leave a lot of time for changing the stage set up, I'd imagine therefore that this would be an appearance by Meat and Aspen only, with little or no other involvement from other members of the NLE. (My bet for the "set list" would be Dead Ringer, Paradise and AFL or IACBTMN)

Joss Stone and Take That are among an array of stars who will join the line-up of the concert marking the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

They will be joining the likes of Sir Elton John and Bryan Ferry at the Concert for Diana, to be held at the new Wembley Stadium on 1 July - which would have been her 46th birthday.

Princes William and Harry - who are overseeing the event - were reported to have chosen Take That after hearing how much they thought of the late Princess.

The band's Mark Owen said: "Princess Diana was such an amazing woman. I think it's lovely the princes want to do something to remember her."

Other acts who are reported to have been signed up include Rod Stewart - an old favourite of Diana's - James Blunt and Keane.

They will also be joined by performers including Bryan Adams, Kanye West, Orson, Meatloaf and James Morrison.

A concert insider said: "The princes have selected acts they knew their mother loved in her lifetime and some newer ones they felt she'd have appreciated.

"It's a fantastic bill and a testament to their powers of persuasion that so many stars have agreed to take part. It's likely to be as big a deal as Live 8 two years ago."

To mark her love of dance and musicals, there will be an appearance by the English National Ballet, while Andrew Lloyd Webber will present a medley of songs from his shows.

A memorial service will be held on the actual anniversary of her death, August 31, but the princes said they wanted to hold the concert because the service alone was not enough.

"The main purpose is to celebrate and to remember her in a fun way," said 24-year-old William. "We wanted to have this big concert full of energy, full of the sort of fun and happiness which I know she would have wanted.

"It's got to be the best birthday present she ever had."

Sir Elton John, who sang a reworked version of Candle In The Wind at her funeral in 1997, is said to be considering singing it again for the first time in 10 years.

There are also reports that the organisers are trying to persuade one of Diana's favourite bands, Dire Straits, to reunite for the show. Robbie Williams has been invited and Simon Le Bon is said to have offered to duet with Justin Timberlake.

Performers will waive fees for the event and money raised will go to the Diana Memorial Fund as well as Sentebale, the charity Harry set up in her memory, and homelessness charity Centrepoint, of which William is patron.

Tickets for the event sold out within 20 minutes in December, with many being resold for up to five times their £45 face value.

As well as the 60,000 audience at Wembley, millions more will watch it when it is broadcast on BBC1.

Guests will include the Queen, Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as Diana's siblings Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes and Earl Spencer.

If he is to preform something, it may as well be HEAVEN CAN WAIT.

Like he did in Pavarotti & Friends! She was present there and he may do it again.

He SHOULD NOT try to promote BOOH III , it's Diana's day

I personally hope he does Two Out Of Three Aint Bad , for he hasn't sung that on tv for years or better still Took The Words also is a possibility.

I can only dream of him doing Modern Girl or Surf's Up.

It won't be an issue of what he should or shouldn't perform, it'll come down to what he can and cannot perform.

As Andy said, with the artists only doing a couple of songs each over 4 hours there isn't time for artists to bring their own bands with their own set ups, so Meat will have to perform the easiest tracks in terms of working with another band, which is why it's likely to be Dead Ringer For Love as he did at the Royal Variety Performance.

Sounds like it's going to be a cracking show. I think 2 out of 3 would be ideal for this kind of show. It would be great if he could get the band to play to give him more options with song choice.

I really hope Meat is able to perform at the concert. Is it an extremely worthy charitable event, & as an added bonus, it sounds like it's going to be one of the most high profile concerts ever!!

He will do what the general public know of his and what the band can play but it will be his own songs safe to say i think

Well Diana was loved aound the world universally so it will be a big thing i think, especially since it seems to have William and Harry's support.

Just a seperate thought. The Kaiser Chiefs have had a pop at some of the 'new' bands performing there saying it's just publicity and they will not perform as they never met her, as they believe only artists who she liked and met.

Although this could be considered as a publicity stunt in itself i have to say i kinda agree.
