Cool Meat Loaf: Masculine

This question has sprung in my mind: why, if Masculine has always been refered to as one of Meat's worst, why was it in his set from 1987 to 1993?

I never got that. I love the song to death and Im kinda wondering what everyone thinks of this song. Like Itsbee nall around and I dont wanna get in trouble to resurrecting that thread White of Night did three years ago.

This a poll. Cause odds are since Meat loves Masculine and kept it longer the any other track from BBIS, its gonna make a return during the Hang Cool Tour.

You have no option that says 'It's not a particularly good album track, but Meat polished the turd up and got it nice and shiny when he did it live,' therefore I cannot vote.

In all honesty I've never liked this track, it's not on my Ipod and is always skipped if and when a cd is played.

Let me try and explain my thoughts on Masculine thus: If I was to make my own Very Best Of Meat Loaf Live compilation album, it would have to run into at least 3 CD's before Masculine appeared on it. If I was to make a studio based compilation then Masculine wouldn't feature at all.

I love "Masculine" and its not even my favotite off of Blind Before I Stop, which I also love. I seriously believe that if they could remix and rework Blind Before I Stop with better intruments and a more modern sound, it would be unbeleivably awesome.

I guess as a woman, I find the song really sexy. When he sings, I've got to have you tonight, it gets me all excited. And to see him sing it live, well that would be a reall buzz!!!! God, between that and California it will be hard to control myself. haha

The lyrics are stupid...it's like what California Isn't Big Enough would be if it took itself seriously. That said, its fairly catchy. I don't mind it, but don't really care to hear it live.

The song is so silly that it's amusing (especially with the Goffs chanting "masculine, masculine" ). Used to sound not bad when performed live but I'm not very fond of his 1980s stuff in general. He did amazing shows, especially from the middle of the Eighties up to the early Nineties, yet his albums were rather weak, except maybe Bad Attitude.

Had the MP3 player on shuffle in the car yesterday and the live version of Masculine appeared in the playlist, as a live track it's superb.

As an album track for me the only thing it hits is the fail button. It could have been good but the style of production and "disco" style that permiates the whole album spoils it.

Live however it shines my fave version is from the wembley album with Amy & Elaine

It was probably at it's best on the Lost Boys & Golden Girls tour, but then what wasn't?

Masculine is one of the best tracks on BBIS. I do enjoy listening to BBIS probably more than Midnight. Imo the strongest track from BBIS is Execution Day.

Definitely. It's much better than the rest of the album.

Frank Farian is a producer of pop music and you hear that when listening to BBIS. There are some good musicians on the album but maybe they should have involved more NLE members.

However, as far as I'm informed, Blind Before I Stop is the only Meat Loaf album that ever made it to a socialist country. Which is a bit unusual, because in many cases those countries used to spend their precious money on very popular, successful albums or Greatest Hits compilations.

I can't wait to see Warioloaf's face when he doesn't put it in the set this summer and does Rock 'N' Roll Mercenaries instead!

If he does then Wario should be demoted to the lowest of the low.
