The Rare Songs: 4. She Waits By The Window
The song "She Waits By The Window" is a cut from the Stoney and Meat Loaf sessions, it isn't a very good song in my opinion. The song is an odd mix of music, with a strange beat for a Meat song. Also, I find that Meat and Murphy are a little off-key. The spanish style guitar is also weird for
a Meat song. My score 4/10 |

I would describe this song as mediocre. It is not in my opinion one of the better songs on the album though also it is not the worst. The song actually starts off pleasantly enough (though nothing startling) with just Stoney singing but once Meat comes in with his verse and they start singing together it doesn't sound quite right. And why was the song not faded out after about 3 minutes? I have never understood why there was a 45 second plus instrumental bit at the end of the song -- hardly riveting stuff that ending!
I'm not sure whether to give it a 5 or a 6 so I'll give it 5.5 out of 10 |

I actualy think this is a good song.
The music is very strange in a haunting, almost fatalistic way. I think Meat and Stoney sing this song very well together,in fact some times it's hard to know where one voice ends and another begins. As for marks out of ten, this is the first Meat Loaf & Stoney song i've really reviewed.I'm finding it suprisingly difficult to compare it to Meat's later work . 8.5/10 Standing. |

Okay, there's no accounting for tastes, but especially for me, it is a real good song. From the first time I heard this song, I thought: Hey, that's not bad, man! It's sounds like a typical around 1970 ballad and remembers me to a few songs of Mary Hopkin I've heard. That's why I give it an 8!

I think this is the best song on this album. You know I love the orchestra and rock together! Here is just a string arrangement, I think at now Meat could make a great deal better music of this song. It takes after a little bit C'est La Vie by Emerson, Lake & Palmer. That is a very good song...

Now, here is the lyrics:
She waits by the window To see if love is near Her head on the pillow She yields to tears Standing in front of your light Nothing is turning out right Nothing comes out from inside Nothing is turning out right Ooh She waits at the window To see her tears She's asking the question Why he's not here it isn't clear Standing in front of your light Nothing is turning out right Nothing comes out from inside Nothing is turning out right Ooh Standing in front of your light Nothing is turning out right Nothing for her is in sight Nothing is turning out right Ooh She waits at the window To see if love is near She's asking the question Why he's not here it isn't clear She's waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting She waits at the window She waits at the window |

Can we stop the posting of the lyrics to the Stoney and Meat Loaf tracks as we discuss them? We didn't post the lyrics to all the other songs.
Besides what is being posted here are not the official lyrics but some guy's opinions who runs the Stoney and Meat Loaf web site. Let's leave that guy's opinions where they belong (on his site) and just discuss the songs |

I was listening to the song again, and I think I was a little harsh on the rating - maybe I will give it a 5 or a 6.
Because there are much worse songs on the CD .... But there really are some nice vocals and music on this album - but more on that in the next postings! |
