Bought the wrong version of Caligula movie off Amazon for $16 - the yucky unwatchable one...couldn't even finish it...listed it on E-Bay and sold it for $42.-.

Checked with Amazon...yep...they were still selling brand new for $16...

Thats a shame that someone sold this on ebay, its the disk Meat gave out in August at the London listening Party, can't see why someone would want to sell something like that. At least they are only giving the CD away and keeping the lyric card and the logo etc.

THE SAGA OF THE INFLATABLE REINDEER

Way back in the mists of time, I bid upon (and won) an inflatable reindeer, signed by Meat Loaf.

I had an upper limit of what I was prepared to go to and I stuck to it, it's for charity ~ right :| ??

Before I put a bid on, I emailed the seller and asked how much the postage would be and was told that it would be no more than $30 - $60.

So, I thought, it's for charity, what the heck, i'll go for it. I won the reindeer with a bid of £51.

Imagine my surprise, shock and horror when the invoice comes and they try and charge me £105 for postage   !!!!

I send off emails with copies of their previous quote for postage and packing and hear nothing back, I email again and again ~ still nothing.

In January I get an email from ebay saying that the seller has opened a dispute on this matter becuase I haven't paid them (insert swear words here). I respond with the same email the seller sent me quoting the $30 to $60 postage. The seller then sends me a revised invoice for £81 which I pay for via Paypal on 26th January this year.

Still with me?

So, I wait for a month ~ nothing. I contact ebay and have a long winded email from the lovely Mandy who is so patronising I want to hit her, stating that as the auction ended over 60 days ago, there is nothing they can do, have I tried contacting the seller etc etc.

I wrote back pointing out that I realised that it was over 60 days since the auction ended BUT it was only 30 days since I paid for the item. Apparently that doesn't matter.

I have tried contacting the seller, but as they are now no longer a registered user, they are not replying to my emails. I've contacted Virginunite and i've contacted auctionwire (the people who set the auction up). Still nothing.

My next plan is to try and contact Paypal to see if I can get my money back.

If this is charity, they can stick it :!: :!:

I wonder if I should write to Richard Branson :??:

ames xx ~ reindeerless :(

Jeanie 03 Mar 2007 19:18

How horrible, Amethyst. :(

I hope you can get it resolved asap, and you get your reindeer from them. Really makes one think twice about bidding on "charity" auctions.

J.

mszee 03 Mar 2007 19:27

Amethyst...unfortunately, I had a feeling that it will be something like that...

BUT...miracles do happen...good luck!

 I'd get in touch with someone more conected to the centre of the company, and tell them that if you don't get satisfaction, you will go to the press about a "Virgin Charity Auction SCAM".

Hey, you bought this item, paid for it, and did not receive it.

Recon Richard Branson would open a can or two of Whoop Ass if Virgin got that kind of negative publicity.

mszee 07 Mar 2007 00:33

Alright...I looked again...so you really think we have memorials like these in the States?

Usually this type of a thing is being set up at the place where some accident happened...somebody got killed in the accident...

Anybody can set up "memorial" like this anywhere...looks like cheap shite too!

Monstro 07 Mar 2007 00:33

I think there are some boundries that shouldn't be crossed but perhaps I'm just living in a world that others can't relate to. This is so far over the line it's out of sight, no matter what someone was in life they should let them rest in peace in death.

And there you have my opinion, right or wrong it's mine

djfierce 07 Mar 2007 00:43

whether its genuine or not is regardless imo, its still wrong

mszee 07 Mar 2007 00:46

Oh I am not saying it's right...I am just saying that it's not at all genuine in my opinion...

Jeanie 07 Mar 2007 01:09

I agree.. that is so wrong... :(

J.

Hypnobabe 07 Mar 2007 12:55

I have to say, I especially liked the comment about how the family weren't concerned with her or her daughter, just the money, and then whoever this is are selling something like that and obviously hoping to get the tens of thousands of dollars they commented on similar items being worth!!

No matter what she was like when alive, (and I didn't especially like OR dislike her) or whether it's a genuine item or not, if it's been left as a memorial to her, that's where it should be now... I agree with previous comments, in my opinion, it's almost as bad as taking something from someone's grave.

Wrong wrong wrong!

For as wrong as it is...I really don't think that it was any kind of memorial...whoever is selling it arranged things just so and took a picture...

And yes, comment about only caring about money is pretty ironic...
