Hi, Bigmomma

Sorry to hear about your dental problems and hope that it gets better soon. I wish my TMJ was that easy to fix but the best that I can hope for is different degrees of pain and enjoy the good days.

Thanks, I will check out Corbis about the pics, some of them I have never seen before.

Oh and Bigmomma, I was drooling over him when he was married to Leslie and I will continue to drool over him even if he is Deborah's.

You no what they say you can look just don't touch, well I still enjoy the looking.

TMJ is a problem that you get when the joint where the temporal bone and the mandibular join togeather (see the brilliance in them calling it TMJ). Many things can cause it such as a blow to the jaw (had that), disease (in my case osteoarthritis) and the joint gets inflammed and hurts like H-E-double-toothpicks. The only help that I can get is to take an antiflamatory and pain meds and to eat only and I mean only soft foods, nothing chewy. I have my better days and my worse days I get a lot of migraines and they hurt and make me sick to my stomach but it could always be worse. And stress definelty makes it alot worse, but we all have our crosses to bear some worse then others.

Will be glad when we can find out how Meat is doing, I hope that he takes the time that he needs to get well and dosen't try to rush things. After all like always say all good things are worth waiting for and he definelty is worth waiting for. :)

Autumn, I don't want to give any medical advice--I'm not qualified for that. But I was diagnosed with TMJ many years ago. It IS extremely painful. You are right!

After going to doctors, dentists and so on, who could only offer surgeries or medical devices you have to sleep with in your mouth--ugh!--I did some reading about it and learned that acupuncture sometimes helps with this problem.

I had not been through acupuncture before, but I figured I had nothing to lose at that point. I didn't like the alternatives and didn't want to end up on a lot of painkillers.

I was lucky. I found a VERY good acupuncturist in my area, who was trained not only in Eastern alternative medicine, but Western (he's a nurse in Emergency wards).

I was really nervous, but I went through a couple of sessions with him and don't know you, I did not have pain anymore!!!! I was amazed, delighted--yes, shocked!! He helped me rid myself of that problem. And in all this time, it has never reoccurred.

But like I said, I don't want to imply that it works every time. I don't know if it does or not. Maybe I was just lucky, but others have been, too, from what I read and perhaps, this is something you might consider looking into! It wouldn't hurt to talk with an acupuncturist in your area just to see what they say.

Hope you don't mind my suggestion...

Take good care!! And I hope you feel better. I KNOW how miserable this thing makes you feel!!

Love,
MB

That is some very sound advice MB.
This year is the first time I have tried acupuncture and it did work for me. My jaw doesn't lock up anymore and doesn't hurt :D
Mind you, my husband LOVED it when my jaw locked. He said that it was the only time he had peace and quiet

Hi, MB and Shadow

MB no I don't mind your advice I wellcome it, I prefer natural remedies to modern medicine anyday.

I have heard many a good things about acupuncture even thought I have never tried it before, I will definetly give it some thought and check into it.

Yes, TMJ is very painful as well as very hard to have any where near a normal life with it

Thank, you I really appericte your suggestions and your thoughts. :)

I think that's rather fitting. If you've ever read the Outlander series of books by Diana Gabaldon there is a site for the "Ladies of Lallybroch" (those of us in love with the character of Jamie Fraser). Why the heck not have the "Ladies of the Loaf"???

Hm,, Ladies of Loaf sounds good, also Ladies of Loafdom would work, or the WWLML would work "Women Who Love Meat Loaf".

we have got our health, each other so bring it on!

Nice pictures, ladies...Something to get me through the day. I tried to post some, but when I previewed them, they turned out as little red xs, not a really inspiring sight. So yummy.... :D . I love the second one! The first one is nice too, though.

Bigmomma 23 Nov 2003 17:20

That is my motto to Tink, you can look, drool, fall over your chin  , just not touch!
forgot to tell you the other day loved your story regarding the
condom/ coasters, really funny, i have had similar problem's only in
chemists and the kids have thought that they were sweet's or something.
my hubby showed me how to do mine, so i can't help their, i am hopeless with computers!
