Good Dream, But Strange

:? Meat is a great performer, just not sure what brought the dream on. When I saw him in Boston it was is bass player Kasim that cought my eye and his little smiles he would send every now and then and the way he would try to dodge the lights and try to wink. Meat's wife must be very happy because of the feelings he has and the way he sings songs with so much feeling. I bet he is romantic in bed or a wild animal.  Hey - who said that?? Not me.

Good Night

Oh, Heat! I think this study is too big for just one person to experiment with it!! I think we're going to need a LOT more 'subjects'!!

And the line forms behind the two of us!!

Got some new photos to help kick off tonight's concert and the German tour!!

Hope y'all enjoy these!

I just love this shot of Pearl and Patti with Meat, don't you?!!

Thanks for the cool pics, MB! I do love the one with Patti and Pearl. Regarding the research study that we seem to be organizing- friends, I have a degree in library science and lots of background in research and statistics. To protect the statistical integrity of our study, I fear I must leapfrog to the front of that line! OK, maybe not....but those three college degrees have to be good for something, eh?

Best wishes to our cohorts in Germany as they experience Meat in a few short hours- remember, we want to know every detail, from the M&G down to the final encore! 8)

hmmmm, can I join that queue as well?!??

But then again, if I was ever lucky enough to meet him I'd probably just turn in to a quivering pile of jelly and be no use to no one anyway!!

Someone once asked me why I liked Meat Loaf, and I just replied 'why not?' .......

Fallen Angel 25 Oct 2003 19:43

Sorry to hear that Kathy. my highest % was emotional with 97% pretty close emotionaly though.

Shellyb01 25 Oct 2003 19:43

They said my top match was Robbie Williams with 100%! Hmmm, i don't think so some how!! :?

I think there's only one bloke we all want to be 100% matched with, and i think you've got to be very, very lucky, or jammy to have that happen really .....

sherrie87 25 Oct 2003 19:51

Ug, I am only a 78% match with Meat Loaf! Worse, I'm a scant 53% emotional match with him. On the bright side, I was a 98% match with Tim McGraw (to paraphrase Jack Nicholson in the film Carnal Knowledge: "I wouldn't kick <him> out of bed!"). However I'm also a 97% match with Sean Hayes of Will and Grace, and I'm quite sure he's exclusively homosexual. Hmmmm.....what does that say about me? :? Now I'm confused. (But that's nothing new!)

Sherrie

Shellyb01 25 Oct 2003 20:02

MB, if you don't want them I can take them both off your hands. I used to love Scott Bakula in Quantum Leap (and had a thing for Dean Stockwell on there as well....I seem to think about boys far too much!) As for Stephen King, he is one of my favorite writers and I would love to spend some time with him. (Yeah rite!!!!)

#2 F.A and gran and dad arive way too early. A tour bus turns up out steps meat and band inc patti. shy me  gets autographs.(THat aint gonna happen).

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what percentage you got with Meat, we all have a bit of Meat in our hearts (and our heads!) and that's all that matters. Can we not all share him?!? :) He's a big man, with a big voice, and a big heart ...... and we all love him to bits for whatever reason. Let's share him, let's start a 'Love Meat' religion ..... sorry, just thought there's no point in fighting over him, when we all feel the same lets share him! :)

BIORYTHMS?

I've been away from this Thread for WAY too long...Mine was pretty good...
Physical- 91% (naturally!)
emotional 78% (yeah, were probably both drama queens)
Intellectual 88% ('cause I love him for his brain...really...I Swear)
Overall-86

:D am I surprised that physical is the highest? well, funny story:

Last night, after the Much More Music special on Meat Loaf, my boyfriend (he's the Jazz musician who has only started to listen to Meat Loaf since we started going out 3 yrs. ago) was asking me some questions about Meat Loaf and so I went online to find some answers...well my BF walked past the computer on his way to our bedroom and took a look as he was passing by and said: "when did you take that picture of me...oh my god, that's Meat Loaf, isn't it!!"

Well, I was looking at some old pics of Meat from 1978/79 and My BF hadn't seen them before...he looks just a little like Meat from Bat 1- after I had convinced him that he doesn't look *that* much like Meat Loaf (he doesn't really- only in certain pictures-and I swear I didn't notice this at first!! But after he quit smoking he gained quite a bit of weight, and all of a sudden, he sort of does) one of our roomates came home and asked us if we wanted to go to a party on Halloween. My BF explained that we couldn't, we were going to see Rocky Horror Picture Show...well, my roomate asked my BF if he was going to dress up and my BF said "yeah, I'm gonna go as 70's Meat Loaf" well my roomate responded with "oh, so you're not dressing up, then?"

Now I fear my Boyfriend has a complex! Poor guy!

Dead right it's depressing. My other best matches were Rod Stewart (i'm sure I won't be young enough for him). Michael Bolton - don't fancy him.
Michael Richards - whoever he is.

Well, tonight, guys, you gotta help me. I've had this one poster for a long time now. And in all this time, I have never been able to find out who the women are.

Could the girl on the right be Doreen Chanter? Compare with photo in Meat Loaf and the Neverland Express UK tour book (Bad Attitude tour), 1984-85.
-Kathy

MBrevard 29 Oct 2003 13:40

Hi, Kathy! You know, I had thought about Doreen, but I'm picturing her as much prettier lady. Also, if this is Doreen, then the brunette would be Kati Mac. Has anyone ever seen her as anything but a blonde??

But I always had a feeling that this picture was taken around the time he was with them...so I guess it's still up in the air. It could be!

What does everyone else think? Maybe there are folks here who got to see Kati and Doreen, and they might be able to tell us more. I'd still love to know!!

Thanks again, Kathy!

Sorry I haven't posted any new photos here for a few days. But I just received something in the mail from Eva and it has photos in it I've never seen before (they probably won't be new to some of you, but they were to me). And I'm going to try to scan some of those in and put them up here in the days to come.

I know right now, though, we're all waiting for photos from the concerts going on and I don't want to do anything to take away from them!!

So, I'll try to do a little at a time, in between the news from Germany!! :D

Hey, a Glasgow restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner!! Doesn't sound too shabby. I wouldn't mind going... But sadly, I'll be the one doing the holiday cooking around here!! I wonder what's on the menu at that restaurant for the day??!! I wonder if they'll bring in some turkeys for it??

Well, take care, everyone!

Sending love to you all,
MB

Hi again! Well, I just couldn't stand it. I've been sitting here and looking at some of these photos. I just had to have a share with you!!

First up, looks like it comes from the '88 European tour, where Meat dressed up for part of it like Hook. Have any of you seen this shot before? It was new to me.

http://www.conubic.com/graphics/heartandsoul.jpg

And second, I hope Kathy comes back to see this--here are Meat and the NLE from the Kati Mac and Doreen Chanter year(s).

Now, I don't want to seem catty, but isn't Doreen prettier than the woman in that other photo? What do you all think??

First up, I just love the expression on Meat's face here!

http://www.conubic.com/graphics/duocalm.jpg

I probably put this next one up during the wrong occasion.
It reminds me of Christmas with all the colored lights!
Here's Meat with one of the Goff sisters:

http://www.conubic.com/graphics/meatgofflights.jpg

And finally today--
for now, the closest I could come up with Meat in costume--
from 1988, Meat as Hook!!

http://www.conubic.com/graphics/meathook1.jpg

Well, that should be enough to get the 'spirits' rising in ya!!

Have a Happy Halloween, friends!

Love to you all,

oooooh, wonderful pictures. I have one very very close when he is captain hook. its a black and white photo and its great. O got it from a member from the ancient fanclub back in 88. her name was Bianca R. Does anybody know this girl cause she was a huge fan. I have to find someone with a scanner to put the photo here.

Hey all -

Finally decided to stop lurking and register!! Of course the compatibility link forced me to

Here's my results:
Physical- 57% (impossible!)
Emotional 100% (what can I say!!)
Intellectual 58% (this has to be wrong!)
Overall-73%

The emotional ranking must come from my raging sicilian genes!!

I promise to not be a stranger anymore around your forum.

Hi! Hope everyone had a good Halloween! And you only had friendly ghosts and ghoulies visit you yesterday!!

Debbie, welcome! So nice to have you with us here! Love to see those pictures from last year's tour!! :D

Bart, I hope you can find a scanner. I'd love to see that photo, too!! I have some more from that same tour, that I'll be sharing here, as well. I've never heard of a Bianca, though, maybe someone else here has.

Hey, F.A.! Thanks! Looking to see more from you, too! :bunny:

Well, I've got a few more pics for you today--good way to kick off the weekend. :D

First, here's another from the '88 tour:

Next up, I'm not sure of the date of this one. It looks earlier than 93, though. Any guesses??

And finally, I have another from the Pam Moore days:

Hope you enjoy them!!

More later...

Actually, i THINK (not super positive) that last one is Kati Mac, before she started dying her hair. She did two tours, one where she was the only singer (as a brunette) -- i think they even did a performance on TOTP of Modern Girl that's been shown on TOTP classic (i forget the exact name of the 'oldies' show, sorry!!) in recent years. Then she toured as a blonde and with another backing vocalist in the band, Doreen Chanter. I could be wrong though about that photo being her!! But i remember one of the Meat sites also having photos from old tour books, and Meat and Kati, as a brunette, were shown doing Paradise, and Kati was dressed up as a cheerleader -- if i can remember the site, i'll post the link. Take care!!

Jen S.

MBrevard 01 Nov 2003 16:09

Hi, Jennifer!! THANKS!!

You know, I asked a little while ago if anyone had ever seen Kati Mac as a brunette, because I had only seen her as a blonde!! And we didn't get any responses here.

Pam Moore was just a guess on my part because this photo did not come with captions of any kind!!

I'd love to see more photos of Kati with dark hair, if you can find them!!

Thanks again!! :D

Hope i didnt sound like a snotty little know it all or something, sorry if i did!!! I cant recall the correct web address for this site anymore, but if anyone knows the actual web address of the "Escape From Hell" site, i believe THAT's where there's the photos from different tour books in one section. Hope this helps!! Take care!!

BostonCPA 01 Nov 2003 20:05

Strange!!

Hey - remember when we had talked about our dreams at night?? Well! I had another one. This time it wasn't about Meat!!
For god sakes it was about John Miceli(sp), What is that about? In the dream He showed up at my home, which is odd because I am never here. We hung out and and talked like we had known each other. He came back from Germany for one day and was heading back again today for another show. God! it was weird, well can't get into how weird  but why him?? I mean he's got a great smile and hits those drums great, but oh well! don't know. So then I woke this am and ran to my computer which hasn't been working on the west coast. I clicked on Kasim's web and the strangest thing at the bottom was picture of Kas with John. Then I clicked on the tour dates to see when they are due in concert again. Anywho - couldn't figure it out, haven't dreamed about Kas yet and I have won passes to meet him. Strange brain I tell you.

Hey, Jen! No, you never sound like a 'snotty little know it all' to me! So, don't worry about it! :D

I've seen the website you're talking about, but you know, it's been a LONG time ago! Is it still up here and is it active? Does anyone know?

Hiya, Tink! Yeah, I love the lacies, too!! Those pics get me every time!!

Boston, Congrats on your win!! :bunny:

What are you eating for dinner??!! I think I'd like to try some of it, whatever it is, and maybe it'll improve the quality of the dreams I'VE been having lately!! (I won't bore you with details! )

Hey, you might get to meet John, too, when you redeem your Kasim backstage pass!

You know, guys, I'm in the mood for a song today. You ever feel that way--you HAVE to hear something Meaty right now or you're just not going to make it??!!

How about this one?!!

Ahhhh, that's better!! :bunny: Hope you enjoyed it!!

Love to you all,

.....

Meat's "Love You Out Loud". is my fav. We warm up to it before our performance. I put it in the radio last week and it's like the OFFICAL CD for us. After that it's"Tesify and Tear Me Down". I am trying to get a clip of it to post so Meat can see Celtic dancers do it to his songs.

Also - During my dream I couldn't spend to much time with him because of my busy agenda and he had a sad face on him. I then asked when I would see him back in the states? He said "Oct." That's weird he said Oct. That's along time. Wouldn't that be weird if it happened. \

Thanks for the audio clip, MB, I'm listening as I type this! Very good one. I love it when Meat misses his cue to start the song. BostonCPA, here's whats odd- I dreamed about Kasim the other night, and I didn't win backstage passes with my QPQ. :? I dreamed that my husband had hired Kasim to play a concert for me and my friends in honor of my 35th birthday (big :? !) next May. The concert was good, and for some reason Kasim, the band, Pearl and Meat (who didn't appear at the concert, oddly enough) all spent the night at my house. (Where, I don't know- my house is tiny!) In the morning, I was running all over the house trying to clean up after the party while they all cooked breakfast in my kitchen! I find ketchup very revolting (yes, I'm odd), and in my dream Meat kept eating ketchup straight out of the bottle and laughing at me as I got nauseous. He was also cooking sausages, and Pearl was making eggs. Why must I have a culinary themed Meat dream? I want something a bit more interesting! Anyway, that was my Kasim dream that sort of morphed into a Meat dream.

Sherrie

BostonCPA 02 Nov 2003 00:23

I can picture it....

Sherrie - I can picture Meat laughing. How did Kas look. Just kiddin. It's hair that make his whole looks and when he wears those glasses. Hold on mama!! It was just so cute the little smiles and winks during the Boston concert. We all know they do that, But I finally received his CD and it's great.

Man, I should have gotten in on this conversation a LONG time ago but I just haven't been around for anything at all lately.

Ok, if we're getting all teenager giggly, the wine is good old Boones Farm or Annie Green Springs. (Oh gosh, does that date me???)

What I find "Sexy" about him is not just that he's a larger man but I think the sex appeal for me was that he and Leslie were married for so long. It's one thing that appeals to me about Jon Bon Jovi too. In a respectful way. The fact that he didn't do all the playing around that you think of "stars" doing. That said, I know he wasn't an angel but I think you know what I mean. (The large man thing is something I never thought I'd go for either btw. I'm not referring to overweight men but those that are large in the sense that they're tall but fit. Just not too tall 'cuz I'm only 5 foot tall & it's hard to kiss a guy when he's TOO tall. )

And Gamergirl . . . "A Ladies Night With Meat"??? Oh heavens . . . the poor man, there'd be nothing left of him 'cuz he'd have no chance. Gosh, and Dottie was the lucky one too . . . sigh . . .

Lady B ~ And Rick Springfield still lives on btw . . . just not as a poster on my ceiling anymore.

MBrevard 02 Nov 2003 13:30

Hi, Lady B!! Where you been, girl?? We've been missing you at the forum!! Nice to have you back with us!! :D

Kathy, about Meat as Hook: There was a short European tour in 1988, where Meat's act was completely different from what we know it to be today. I'm hoping that maybe someone here was at some of the concerts and can talk about it more. I am only going on what little I've seen and what I have heard from some recordings.

But Meat started off the show in a straight jacket.

http://www.conubic.com/graphics/straightjacket.jpg

And this is what he'd say.

And then, they'd play some great music!

Later in the show, he came onstage as Hook--with the patch on his eye and a hook instead of one of his hands! We all know Jim's fascination with Peter Pan, and with Meat performing some of Jim's songs from Bad for Good during the shows, I guess I've always felt this was strange, but appropriate.

I have to admit this tour has always fascinated me. We all know that Meat plays a character onstage--the character of Meat Loaf, who is very different from the man behind the curtain.

But on this particular tour, I have always thought that his regular character was playing OTHER characters, that of the insane rock 'n' roller AND Hook--if that makes sense. And it's not easy to do that!! 8)

I don't know if he was unhappy with the results or maybe he just preferred playing the regular Meat Loaf role, but I don't think (and please, someone correct me if I'm wrong) that he ever tried this again. I think for every subsequent tour, he has just played the ML character or gone on as himself, as in the Storytellers tour.

Since we've been talking about this, I'm going to share something else with you all today. I think I had it up for a short time during Meat's birthday party at the forum. But I know that a number of you weren't able to be here for it. So, I'll give you a taste of Meat playing Hook!

Hope you enjoy it!! It's not the best recording, but I've always sort of felt like it's a miracle we can see ANY of this at all!! :bunny:

Well, enough from me for now! Have a great day, friends. Talk with you later!

Love to all,
MB

sit on a cushion on the floor, it saves the old bottom from hurting
from to many falls on the floor, after looking at all the great
pictures, :P and lets face it girls have you ever seen a bad pic of meat?
oomph, i know i havent, but the only problem now is how are we
supposed to get through all the house work when we have a stupid
grin on our faces? i gave up trying to go shopping after being on
here a while back, as i got to many funny looks!

Kathy 02 Nov 2003 20:19

Thanks, MB! You know, I saw a photo of Meat wearing a straitjacket in his autobiography and I _wondered_ what that was all about. That show must have been hilarious to see! And that's the first time I've ever heard Bad For Good; I didn't know Meat ever sang it. Good song - maybe a little long in the middle, but neat things happen on stage, so you wouldn't want to leave the middle out :) I wish he would put out a video, but I guess if he were going to, he would have by now. What a show that must have been. Thanks again.

sherrie87 03 Nov 2003 02:33

Wow, I love the straightjacket monologue- very theatrical, very cool. I saw ML in the US around that same time, maybe a year later, and there were no costumes like that, just a straight ahead rock show.

Did he do Hook just for BFG, or for several songs?

Sherrie
