The only two negative things I could mention on the DVD was that the vocals didn't sound very loud on break it and that the I'd prefer it if the violin was louder on anything for love. Other than still love it and have made my boyfriend put the album on his iphone so I can hear it in the car whenever we go in it

Was Ginny the Alice character? It was way too dark to tell. Whoever it was looked fetching in that outfit . If I were going to edit down anything form what made the DVD, "Paradise" would have been the one thing. I thought it was perfect on the MMW Tour at about half the length on the DVD. But it is a minor quibble.

Yes it was Ginny. Perhaps Meat adjusted Paradise on the MMW Tour based on what he learned from the Guilty Pleasure Tour. He's always changing and perfecting. Maybe he knew it ran long...but there was a lot going on. They committed to the scenes that played out and it took as long as it took. I'm glad to have seen what took place in AU because Meat usually changes Paradise every tour launch somehow.

I know he adjusted Paradise almost nightly during the MMW Tour because at the very least the story changed....Patti's lobster dinner got bigger and bigger every show (per reviews written and the shows I went to) . Then by Clearwater, he dropped the dinner menu bit altogether. I'm not sure what version you witnessed by the time it came to your neck of the woods.

So yeah, the length of Paradise is always a variable....I see it as there is no set time where Paradise needs to end. It takes as long as it does to have the story in Meat's head play out the way he wants it to be told/sung. That given, there are a few things I can always take away from a Paradise performance no matter how long or short.....1. The first kiss in the make out session (should there be one) is always a timely intense HOT moment. 2. there is always a humorous banter and 3. often times there is a shot to Meat's "big surprise" by the end!

The version of Paradise on the DVD was different than the Hang Cool Tour and at the end of the evening, I'm glad to have another version I have now seen.

Was the violin on AFL added in the studio? On some of the songs, she doesn't appear to be playing at the right times in the video. I remember she tweeted about recording extra violin parts in the studio.

I thought the lighting and the setlist were better in 3 Bats Live. There were so many great hits in that show. The audio is definitely better on Guilty Pleasure and Patti's back. I think a Patti solo like The Future or Seize the Night could have added a lot to this dvd. She didn't get to sing much lead in the show and she wasn't mentioned at all in the documentary.

Something else about a UK show is the excitement of the audiences. During Dead Ringer For Love, girls were dancing atop their guys' shoulders at the UK shows. That kind of enthusiastic audience would have added a lot to the atmosphere.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they were allowed for use in arenas but not on video or something along those lines. Even without them Paradise clocks in at 26 minutes, so time may have also been a consideration. I like Little Bo Peep at least I think that is what she is supposed to be, but wish she could be seen better.

I really do have a hard time understanding how some people can let themselves be goaded so easily.

It just seems to me that there are people, to quote AC/DC, 'Spoiling for a fight' in here and there are those that are happy to come up, or down, to their level.

If you don't like something that's ok and if you disagree or have an wave of disbelief as to how someone could dislike something then just take a step back and try to understand that not everyone will feel the same way as you.

Your 110 % might only be someone else's 50%...remember that.

If we were all the same it'd be pretty dull wouldn't it?

They were at the Melbourne show I went to. I'm sure that at around that time someone mentioned they were also at the Sydney show, because I knew in advance that they were going to be there. I could be mis-remembering, though, that was a long time ago now

Thumbs up

@ Vicki and Deena: lol, that's what I thought - Alice in Wonderland! I thought Ginny was wonderful btw; I loved her soulful violin.

I don't have a "review" just because I've been way too busy, but the DVD certainly deserves that, and thanks to Chris for his review :)

I loved Guilty Pleasure, and thought the picture quality and lighting were great! I just have an ordinary TV set, a big old Sony with a picture tube, lol, but the DVD played sharp and clear on it!

And the show itself is wonderful!! Meat sounds great, and it's so good to get these songs on a DVD, such as Boneyard, although it's been changed since AU. Meat always improves things as he goes along :)

For me it's so true that this DVD is the next-best thing to being there. It has that feel, that heart-stopping excitement of standing at the stage, that upon 1st watching made me half forget I was watching a video. I was just telling a friend today that there was a bit at the beginning of Paradise that I LOVED and it didn't even occur to me to grab the remote and see the bit again, like I normally would!

I don't know if that "you are there" feel is because of the lighting or the way it was filmed. I did love the way it was filmed/edited! Whoever put it together picked out really excellent moments not just for Meat but for all the band members, which makes it a very "personal" video. This alone sets Guilty Pleasure apart from any previous DVD imo.

The censoring during Paradise was annoying but I think someone went to some trouble to minimize the annoyance. The f**k yous sounded a little like they were through a kazoo to me. An actual "bleep" or even a dead spot would have been much worse. If they were forced to censor it, they at least did their best to make it ok.

I just saw Concert One's EPK Clip 05 tonight, with Meat and Patti (his rock) and I loved it, it was so sweet, and I'm both sorry and mystified about its omission from the final product.

I've only seen Guilty Pleasure once (including the documentary) but I will definitely watch it many, many more times! :)

P.S. thanks to Mel for your comments about the Sydney show; there's no substitute for seeing the live show :)
