My intentions were nothing but good....

Hate how $$$ always comes into the mix of everything.

I would LOVE someday...to take my kids and/or grand-kids to see my FAVORITE incerdiblly TALENTED ARTIST/MUSICIAN on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

MEAT LOAF has earned his place in the Hall of Fame...and Walk of Fame...and in my opinion...HEART OF FAME!

Can't wait till JULY...it's a proven fact singing/dancing releases endorphins that make us feel "good". Really need a dose of endorphins right NOW!

CONGRATS MEAT...you did an AMAZING job on CA...and you are always a hall/walk/heart of famer in MY book!!!

That's just the way it works unfortunatly
Besides, if you've got to pay you've got to pay, does that change your opinions of everyone else who has ever shelled out for it?

I think Meat's record comapany should fork out.
It'd be a great piece of promotion, and would raise his profile, especially after CA coming to a close.

Agreed 100%
I'd get a kick out of seeing Meat's star and having a picture of me standing by it.

Only on the the day that Satan ice skates to work past a bear who has left the woods to take a shit, the pope's entire hat collection appears on e bay and he comes out as actually being quite jewish.

Just because I think they should does not mean I think they ever would.
Hell, they don't even believe in putting a single on a store shelf

Beau Peep has more prospect of promotion that Meat.

Saying the 30 grand is better off going to PT is like saying "I should buy an escort instead of a porche because I can give the rest of the money to PT".
Or "screw the mansion, i'll have a 2 bedroom flat so I can give the rest of the money to PT".
If you kept on like that you would have a crisis of conscience every time you bought something for yourself.

Meat may well believe that 30k in loose change would be better off going to PT than on something he wanted for himself, but i'm of the viewpoint that if it's something he wants (and why the hell not?), and he's got the cash to splash, I say go for it
He's sure as hell earned it.

It may be a bit of an extravagance, but to quote that classic movie American Yakuza again .......

"If all I wanted was what I need, i'd be living in a cardboard box with a blow up doll".
I am just saying I do not see Meat as self-aggrandizing. I'm sure he can afford any thing he wants. If he were given the choice between some "walk of fame" and giving $30K to PT, especially after viewing 'Apprentice" I have to believe he'd want it to go to PT. I could be wrong, but I think he has all the fame already and does need to prove that.

That's how I see him too

I was talking to their office in California this afternoon, and they were saying how wonderful he is, how grateful they are for his fundraising on CA, what a personal interest he takes, and how incredibly warm and caring he is.

Awards given by his industry, film or music, which are given in recognitition of his work .. I'd think they'd bring a tear to his eye. But as for the rest? .. I believe he has more tears for the children Painted Turtle helps

He may very well prefer it, but I don't pretend to know what Meat thinks.

Again, i'm not trying to offend anyone by saying this, but I feel that statements like the one above project an ideal on Meat, a fan conjoured image that Meat has to live up to, and I personally don't think it's quite fair to do that on a fansite he reads.
I'm not saying it's anyones intention to make Meat feel bad or pressured into being a singing dancing wand waving wish granting saint, i'm just saying the pressure is there all the same when people project their expectations of him.

Has there ever been any indication that Meat intends making a choice between spending 30 grand on the walk of fame or giving it to PT? No, so the whole thing is hypothetical anyway.

I just refuse to applaud him or crucify him over a hypothetical question that is nobodys business but Meat's.

I merely suggest that if it's something that he wants, he should treat himself to it because he's earned it, and he has no need to feel guilty about spending his own money on something that will bring him pleasure.

And again, I don't pretend what Meat thinks, but he's going to be a grandfather, and wouldn't it be one hell of a kick for his grandkids to see that star and tell people "that's my grandad"

I doubt many people have paid the walk of fame because they throught they weren't famous enough.

Like everything else it boils down to money, yet the public perception (which is one that is propogated bythe controlling organisation) of such things as the walk of fame and the RnR Hall Of Fame is that they are great honours for the artist who is inducted, concreted into a pavement, or whatever. Just two more examples of what is so wrong with the world. Give Meat another Grammy or an Oscar any day over something that pretends to be one thing when in reality is another.

If I had $30k going spare, I'd set about getting my own star included in the walk of fame, just to show how ludicrous it all is.

Geez dude, I justy had an opinion which I based off him crying over PT on CA. It's an opinion for heaven's sake. I personally don't give a damn if you all spend a million bucks to put his picture on the moon. It's a discussion forum, now I'm projecting an ideal on Meat? Jeez Louise. This place makes you want to leave at times. I think I'm due a break before I project anything else onto Meat since I have so much influence. Crap almighty!!

For someone who says they don't care you seem to be very emotionally invested in this.
I've tried to make my point in a polite and respectful manner.
You are the one being aggressive and abusive.

Yes it says "armed ba$tard" on my custom title.
It's a Gene Hunt quote.

My avatar is also a picture of Philip Glenister in the role of Gene Hunt.
That doesn't make me Gene Hunt

Jewish slur?

If you think paraphrasing the saying "is the pope a catholic" to make a point is a "jewish slur", you are very much mistaken
You might as well call the RSPCA because i've been making derogatory statements on the toilet habits of bears

Feel free to take that break until you can post in a cool, calm, and rational manner.

Agreed, on both counts.
It was a nice normal conversation until the hypothetical game of "what would Meat do?".

Think this thread should be put to bed without it's tea
