Question MEAT WALK OF FAME...CONSENT?

Thanks Suz for posting the link to nominate Meat for the Walk of Fame!!

I was filling it out...and in VERY small print it says:

"All applicants must have written consent from celebrity stating nominee is in agreement with nomination"....

HOW do we get THAT??

P.S.
I wouldn't mind picking it up from you personally Meat...in July!!

Ok, there may be some concern in the Meat camp that people might be taking this a tad serious, best advice is to wait and see what happens as it's not as simple as sending a load of emails/letters/requests etc, there's also a $30,000 fee that has to be paid.

Please don't "jump the gun" (pun intended lol), there will more than likely be an update on this soon from the Meat camp.

I think Meat would rather $30,000 go to the Painted turtle rather than "Buy" him an award that he deserves to be awarded, not bought.

I absolutely agree. Meat doesn't seem too interested in awards and what critics say like some performers are. I believe he'd rather support a charity.

I'm sure Jim Steinman would pay the $30000 if asked.

I can't say I agree with that train of thought.
Meat already does a lot for charity in terms of promotion and fundraising.

Saying the 30 grand is better off going to PT is like saying "I should buy an escort instead of a porche because I can give the rest of the money to PT".
Or "screw the mansion, i'll have a 2 bedroom flat so I can give the rest of the money to PT".
If you kept on like that you would have a crisis of conscience every time you bought something for yourself.

Meat may well believe that 30k in loose change would be better off going to PT than on something he wanted for himself, but i'm of the viewpoint that if it's something he wants (and why the hell not?), and he's got the cash to splash, I say go for it
He's sure as hell earned it.

It may be a bit of an extravagance, but to quote that classic movie American Yakuza again .......

"If all I wanted was what I need, i'd be living in a cardboard box with a blow up doll".

No problem

But to bring the same situation to a personal level, if it were a choice between buy Meat's next album (which I can live very well without, and is therefore an extravagance) and putting the money to a worthy cause, sorry, but i'll be buying the album for myself.

I do see your point here though

But I think it boils down to the person/situation (As obiously, no CD is $30,000), & is what formed my opinion of what Meat would most likely rather.

But a homeless guy could have a couple of decent meals if I gave him the money rather than spend it on the CD.
Or for £2 a month I can help fund better living conditions for kids in Africa.

Meat is on a couple of £/$ more than me, so that's why I use that comparison

My point is that any ammount of money (no matter how large or small) can be put to charitable use.

I like to think i've done my fair share of charity work, so should I feel guilty that I spend money on personal luxuiesI can live without?

I certainly don't believe it's anyone intention, but if I were in Meat's shoes and I wanted to spend the money on the walk of fame, i'd feel like a heel if I came on my fansite and saw people saying things like "no way Mousie will pay that, he's a nice guy who'll give the money to charity".

No way in hell could I spend that money on the walk of fame after reading that.No matter how much I wanted it.

So i'm here to say to Meat, you've earned it, you deserve it, and if it's something you want, get it

My perspective of Meat is that he has many awards, and the one he really values is his precious Grammy, which he earned. I agree completely with those who say he's not the man who'd particularly value an award which is essentially purchased provided youmeet some simple criteria .. that's my view. If he wanted to get his management committee to send off a nomination with the promise of his cheque if selected, of course he'd be entitled to do so. How he spends his money is absolutely his own business, but personally I doubt he'd place significant value on an award gained this way. I think this is the point people are making; not that he wouldn't deserve recognition. I certainly don't believe he'd expect or indeed want his fans to contribute. He probably takes more honour in being a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a responsibility he takes seriously.

I also don't think what he said was in any way intended to kick-start a collection .. lol, and agree with those who say he'd be more likely to say, "Kids .. if you have a few spare dollars? Please, send them to Painted Turtle!"

His answer on the video to the question asked wasn't "Please nominate me", and imo was more a droll response as he was rushing to catch a plane, because any email to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce would get the simple reply that anyone can nominate a performer for a star, providing they have a signed promise of acceptance from that person and acknowledge responsibility for the fee.

Much like the Rock & Roll HOF, he has earned it and he deserves it......but I doubt he loses a minute of sleep over not having either The Star, or the R&R HOF. Judging by his reaction to possibly losing the $ for the Painted Turtle on Celebrity Apprentice, I'm pretty sure I know where his priorities lie. :) He WOULD have lost sleep over that!

Absolutely in accord with all of that Imo he'd more likely lose sleep over a single missed note in last night's concert than not having a Star or being in the HoF

Just don't take his Grammy ... or his Childe Hassam

What he may lose sleep over is if he were to get a star on the walk of fame, they would most likley spell his name as "Meatloaf" XD

Perfectly said.

Meat is a giver by nature. He would need no justification in my book if he wanted a star vs. donating that money to his charity. Perspective: Don't Forget the Lyrics alone brought in $500,000 and $30,000 is a little less than 7% of that.

I don't follow. By what way? It's just a bunch of ideas being thrown around.

I rather think he takes all his responsibilities seriously, not just being a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

I just think that the fans would like to see a Star on the Walk of Fame for him, and it seems attainable compared to the more corrupt politics of the R&R HOF, now whether or not he wants one is unclear. Naw, he's not losing sleep over it. But I agree, I don't think he knows what is involved to get one. Especially since emailing The Chamber is not an option at all. LOL.

1. being the consent by Meat or his management
2. being $30,000 funds guaranteed.

otherwise filling in the paperwork is a snap, a brief Bio, picture and off it goes. I guess we'll find out when Camp Loaf elaborates a little.
