I have to disagree, but the "Over the Top" version is much better. Most the recordings from Mohegan Sun Casino. IMO what part is better just 1 singer, 1 piano and much less chorus.

(Over the Top=+_ Dream Engine, but DE unfortunately more Rinkoff?)

Ooh I really like this, and I can totally see Meat doing this and making it his own, or is this just me ?
The guy singing has a great voice though, thanks Ankie .

I fully agree about the Over The Top version, but at least now there is a ''legal'' online version for everyone to enjoy

The Over The Top version somehow sounded more passionate then this one, or is that just me?

I'm not sure about that song, to be honest I got pretty bored with it quite quickly, maybe a better bigger (and as Ankie said more passionate) production would suit it. On this recording's evidence I wouldn't be bothered if Meat didn't touch it.

I agree with you Michael. When I heard the Over The Top version it wasnt a problem at all to ''hear'' Meat sing it, but with this one it definately is something else.

I think this song is a bit derivative...it became a background music for me within a minute or so...

Fraid Rob Evan doesn't do anything for me.

In fact his voice reminds me of something else, and off the top of my head I think it's the guy who did the Too Fat To Rock & Roll spoof of Meat.

I had to look up the lyrics because I couldn't understand what the hell he was singing at the end of this line "What part of my heart is beating—faster than the speed of love?"

REALLY needs to work on his diction on that one.
"Love" does NOT include the letter H, no matter how much you want it to

I think the arrangement is really sloppy.
He doesn't seem to be working with the piano at all, and the backing singers sound like they've got up out of the audience to join in where they see fit.

Around the 48 second mark they go into a Carpenters riff.
The name of the song is on the tip of my tongue and it's doing my bloody head in
I'm no big Carpenters fan though, so I can take solice in the fact I don't know the name of all their songs by heart

I found some lyrics to be VERY borrowed...obviously from other Steinman's songs...

"a contract or security that derives its value from that of an underlying asset (as another security) or from the value of a rate (as of interest or currency exchange) or index of asset value (as a stock index)"

For some reason I can't find the meaning which I've used...derivative in every day language means basically what it says above but applied to anything...

In other words...Steinman wrote songs already...and THEN borrowed lyrics from them to create new songs...or music...

I stopped basically watching that video after I've heard "Faster than a speed of love" or something of that nature...really grated on my nerves after "Faster than a speed of light"

I think it's interesting that on one hand people who critisize Meat Loaf performances get flamed, but the same people can slag off a Steinman-related production for the same reasons why Meat is critisized without feeling bad (not understandable, etc)

I for one am not a big Rob Evan fan, at least not of him doing Steinmusic, but I very much appreciate these two little videos.

I don't see anyone with a reputation for flaming those with an honest opinion posting negatives on this thread

I really like we're still the children, i agree the arrangement on that version spoils it some what but the lyrics are great. I'm surprised Meat hasn't recorded it as imo it could have been great on Bat 3. Would have been a perfect way to end the album instead of cry to heaven!

Eh?? i'm sorry Rj i dont see that happening here, i have never heard What Part of my body before but i have to be honest and say i dont like it much, i thought Meat did it on hotd tour but now i'm told it was something else, it was that one i liked, i dont like this and i dont think there's much even Meat could do to this one to make me interested.

Havent had a chance to listen to the one jonty posted so wont say anything here till i have.

The problem most people have with some steinman fans bashing meat is that their criticism of meat very rarely has anything to do with meat's performance/singing.

i dont know anything about Rob Evan so i wont comment on the guys talent, but i didnt like the song, so i dont think it wouldve mattered who sung it

While reading Anji's post I've realized that I missed Jonty's video. So all my comments are about What Part Of My Body.

Will have to listen to the other one from home and form my opinion then although I am pretty sure I've heard it before at Joe's Pub...have to remind myself...

sorry, was in a hurry, so what I was trying to say might did not come across the way I meant it to.

The thing I meant was that Meat get's critisized all the time for his singing, etc, and SOME people take it VERY personally and flame the person who maybe just wanted to state their honest opinion.
In this case the Meat Loaf fans are critisizing the video of other performers in the same way. Neither of those comments were meant in an absuive way, so the people who take Meat Loaf's critisizm personally, and at the same time critisize other artists in the same way should see that it's all in all not a big deal and only opinions. Either way. So next time they should remember their comments on this video and not jump on the first person to make a negative comment about Meat Loaf.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Strangely enough i do get what your trying to say

I think where most people are concerned it all boils down to how the critisicm is worded/put accros, of course there will still be some who get anal about everything

Yes, but this is Meat Loaf forum - this little detail needs to be taken into consideration...although constructive criticism was I think taken ok here even for Meat...what annoys everybody are newbies who just signed up to rant for a day or two and then disappear into blue beyond...
