If they should ever put me in , I'm like the SEx pistols I would not go. They have asked me and Patti to sing at there show "lost that loving feeling" . I said no. They don't like me I don't like them. About 400 people vote on the final ballot. I think it's 12 people who make the ballot. It was a Bruce Springsteen idea to start it.

BRAVO!!!! THAT response.....along with a lot of great music, is why I've been a fan since 1978.

That's one of the things I've always wanted to see. There was a TV ad for the Born To Rock Tour that appeared to be a parody of James Bond movies and Meat looked like Blofeld in it.

That had always distinguished the Bond movies from average action / spy thrillers: The humor, the crazy villains, the gadgets, the mysterious (sometimes dangerous) ladies and the often unrealistic scenarios. I miss the movies starring Sean Connery, Gert Fröbe, Lotte Lenya, Roger Moore, Richard Kiel, Grace Jones, etc. They were fun. I stopped watching the Bond series after Casino Royale. One of the many reasons why I did was the lack of an interesting, entertaining villain.

Yes, that's a very good movie, too. Interesting mix of drama and black comedy. (Melanie Griffith and the hat box... ). Meat was brilliant as the violent sheriff. I especially liked the scenes at the court with the great Rod Steiger as the judge.

Sure it's not the first time Meat played a character with tits. Didn't Bob in fight have a big rack on him??

Don't doubt it Was surprised you didn't get an award for Focus (I know the film did .. in Canada?) because you gave an incredibly strong yet subtle, layered performance in that.

The only Bond movies I really enjoyed were the ones starring Pierce Brosnan

Exactly. I enjoyed the mix, and thought Meat was brilliant too.
I really liked the court room scenes, but one of my favorites was at the pool when Meat (Sheriff Doggett) pulled the young man off the fence. The first time I watched it, he actually scared the heck out of me

Another great performance recently was Eddie in House ....
Meat, I thought you deserved an Emmy for that one.

Those are my favourites too but I like a lot of the Roger Moore ones as well. They killed the franchise with the last two movies imo. Just like Sarge said; no humour, no gadgets, no Q, no cheesy chat up lines and the barrel scene was at the end which is like .

I could just picture Meat sitting with a big white cat, taking over the world.

If you are next going to tell me Patti was dressed as a bond girl I'm gonna kill myself for not seeing that.

I just checked my old VHS tapes and found a recording of it. It's an ad of VH-1 Germany, it features Meat as Blofeld, the cat and scenes from the I'd Lie For You video. No Patti, sorry.

P.S.: It even comes along with James Bond music (License To Kill).

Yeah, those lists, including the Rolling Stone one, can be...interesting. One that I saw actually listed Nigel Tufnel.

Not being a smartass here, but they must not dislike you that much if they have asked you for things and to perform.

From the Rock Hall website:

http://rockhall.com/site/faq/

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist’s contribution to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

The Foundation’s nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the Performer category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of about 1,000 rock experts. Those performers who receive the highest number of votes, and more than 50 percent of the vote, are inducted. The Foundation generally inducts five to seven performers each year.

Really? According to the Rock Hall, it was Ahmet Ertegun:

Re Fight Club: I never would have watched that movie if Meat wasn't in it, at first I just wasn't interested, but I watched it and I am glad, because it is a great movie.

Re Bond movies: I always enjoyed the Brosnan era, I still don't mind the Craig era but Brosnan was much better. Meat would have made a great villain.

Re Crazy in Alabama: Love that movie! Great story and has quite a meaning to it also.

I've never looked at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame but I was just looking at the list of inductees there and I swear, if I didn't know what it was and ye told me to guess, Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame would almost be the last thing I'd have thought of.

I love Jackson Browne's music with all of my heart, but I dunno if I'd call it Rock and Roll. I'd also put James Taylor along Jacksons route.

It should be called "The Lifetime Achievement Award" instead. We have one awarded to an Irish band every year at the Meteor Awards.

Earth, Wind and Fire got inducted?! Aren't they more poppy and groove? I'm solely thinking of their "Let's Dance" song here.

Really sorry to hear that Meat, so close, you must have been gutted, and you would have deserved it too. I believe you will get the role too. And that's great news about the new album. Now I have 2 things to look forward to next year, your concerts and the new album.

I'm not a huge fan of them but it always suprises me to hear that Kiss aren't in there. I would have thought they'd have been one of the first bands inducted into it. Then again they only got round to inducting Genesis last year so god knows what is happening there.

Genesis are nowhere near as good as Phil Collins' solo stuff imo, if anything they have been EXTREMELY inconsistent in the quality of their musical output imo so I personally find that very ironic to hear too but I know many here hate PC so I won't go on about it too much.
