Meat is a multi-talented guy. I'm sure there are so many other career opportunities he would like to explore.
He works extremely hard on tour and we all appreciate it, but at the end of the day, it comes down to what makes Meat happy.
Performing is what makes him happy. Thats knowledge thats universally known.

So this is what he wants to do. Its the ravage aussie beasts that are bringing his muse to a stand still.

If you decide you have had enough and you feel you can't give anymore then from the bottom of my heart I say good luck and god bless to you.

Forget the bad times and the bad shows, don't dwell on what you can't change. Don't let a few idiots bring you down...f**k em'

The Meat Loaf I will always remember is the hard working, hard rocking and funny bloke whose music has helped me through some hard times, someone whos shows have given me so much pleasure and put a smile on my face since I was a kid. My first gig was a ML gig in 1988 when i was 11, that gig shaped me and the music i listen to now so im not gonna let some petty minded idiots ruin my memories.

Meat Loaf..The best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.

God Bless Ya Meat, you are a legend!

Dearest Meat, I'll just say what I said this morning. We're not the whole reason you do what you do in my view .. you do it because you have been given a gift and the inner drive to use it to the best of your ability while you're on the planet. But we are the best reflection of it's infinite value Try and keep that reflection in your view, because you know in your head and your heart that this is what you see every time you step onto an arena stage, walk out and see us waiting, and see it when you hold your hands high and look out at us cheering at the end.

It's a wonderful thing to be so wanted, to bring so much joy to so many. And when you do decide to move onto other things, other ways to use that God given talent, let it be on a high because you're fired with energy to make that move, not because you feel tired, frustrated, crushed by a bunch of jackasses. You don't need to answer them, or even try to prove them wrong; they are so by definition and action.

You've always done it your way, on your terms. You have my love, support and trust, and that of so many. And we are legion.

Ditto. A cosmos without Meat Loaf scarcely bears thinking about. At least we will probably see him in some films. I'd like to see him make a film like as a director. Of course I much prefer music.

Warrio, you put some real thought into this one. And, I couldn't agree more with what you said.

Hopefully, when Meat's had time to consider everything, he will remember that performing is what makes him happy. (I last saw Meat perform live this past April, and he and Paul were grinning like kids at each other through much of the show. They were having a BLAST! It was so much fun to watch. )

Yes, the time to hang up the scarf will creep around sometime. But, imho, this is the worst possible time to do it.

We all know this not the way Meat wants to go out - handing himself over to the "ravage aussie beasts". And Meat knows it too.

I believe Meat's innate intelligence is going to prevail after some much needed sleep. Hindsight is always 20/20, and I for one don't want Meat to look back at giving up what he clearly loves because of critics who don't deserve the time of day, rather than when he is ready to do it from the heart, after planning and real consideration of everything involved.

Meat, you've got the love and support of so very, very many. We're here. If you find yourself at the dawn of a new day and still feel the same way, please don't do anything rash. Let's talk!! PLEASE.

With love and deep admiration,

Sue

What a lovely sentiment. I have always believed that music has the power to change peoples lives. Over my many years as a Meat Loaf fan, that belief has been reinforced time and again. Whatever you do next Meat, you can be f*#@ing proud!!

Fire Ball, hey! Mate, I agree our climate here is dry, relentlass and unforgiving! I should know, I live on a farm in Northern New South Wales and we've had it dry here at times. Anyway, back to the point mate. I can relate to the dry climate affecting you, because of low humidity. But mate, I need you and all of your fans need you to make a stand here, and to just keep on rocking! Easier said than done I know. I'd hate to even begin to know what you are going through! But mate, I hope you can just get past this, and continue on with your pursuits and goals in the future! You are doing what you love, what you were born to do, and what you are bloody good at! You're a fighter here son! Keep on rocking mate, and just know there is light at the end of the tunnel!!! Know that your devoted fans have got ya back too. We'll stand by you in thick and thin, and will remove any vermon from here and face book! Love you dearly mate, and don't you ever stop rocking!!!!! xoxoxox

I really have an end of an era feeling. I'm sure Meat will give us another great CD and will do whatever he can to make the DVD as perfect as possible since it may be the last live show many of us see. If indeed you are walking away at least you are going out on top.

Meat, the US shows were some of your best received in years. The UK always receives you well. The Aussie press - not even the fans - ~~~~s you over so the last two years doesn't count?

I defend you all the time here, the HCTB shows I've heard are some of my favourite shows you've ever done, I think your last two albums are absolutely killer, I've been to a lot of concerts, worked with a lot of singers, seen Dylan a dozen times, Brian Wilson, R.E.M., Johnny Cash, Leonard Cohen, Alice Cooper, the list goes on, if any of them were playing next door to a Meat Loaf show I'd be at your show every night and thats no bull. They all have their gifts but none of them ever put it on the line every night like you do. You remain my favourite performer, but if a few naysayers - primarily the press, (who's whole motivation these days is putting down celebrities, especially visiting ones) is all it takes to make you hang up your hat, I can't deny I'm disappointed. It'd be sad if 100 years from now when people talk about the blood, sweat and tears, balls to the wall rock star that was Meat Loaf, they have to end the story with 'and then the Aussie press sank their teeth into him and he quit'.

If the adoration and respect of 9000 cheering, paying fans a night can be drowned out by 90 pricks with keyboards, that's a huge shame, it's as good as saying we can't have music and can't have heroes anymore.

I hope once you're out of Oz you feel differently. There's no place like home.

Didn't you say it took you 40+ years to put together the perfect band? To do what, throw them away?

If this really is it, I'll never forget all the energy, effort, comradeship and camaraderie I enjoyed through your music and performance.

The ~~~~~~~s only win if you let them win.

Love you back.

To Meat,

You are absolutely a TRUE rock star, and an AMAZING entertainer.

The music world at the moment I believe is aload of same old electronic recyled rip off's!

You sir are a ROCK star, who gets in there, digs deep and kicks arse... and kicks arse...

I've been seeing you live in London over the last 13/14 years... and you always blow me away.

There is nobody out there like you. Your a true credit so rock and roll, always will be.... Period!

I love, WE love you!!!

To me this is like any situation where someone is bullied at work.

If anyone on here has ever been at a job where they had a boss who told them constantly that they "werent good enough", eventually you begin to feel like you really never will be good enough. You start to feel like even though your trying your best, you will only ever be sub-par.

This is how Meat has been treated by the Australian media and AFL fans, and cyber bullies. And for the moment, Meat is really hurt, and I think partially buying into their bullying by believing that he truly is no longer good enough. If he felt otherwise, he would brush it off as ridiculous behavior, but he seems to be buying into the "meat's an old man who is past his prime" shpeil.

That's like saying black people shouldn't vote. And young people cannot possibly understand life. Or that seniors have nothing left to contribute to socity. Or that Middle aged people are too old to go back to school and have a meaningful career.

None of these ideas are "truths". They are stereotypes placed on us by society. They are the types of ideas that destroy hopes and dreams. Telling groups of people who they should be, and what constraints they automatically have on their lives just because of the "group" they belong to.

Meat belongs to the group of rock stars who have been around for 40 years. Performers who have dedicated their lives to entertaining others, and have a tried and true approach that has proved to be immensely successful. These people are still very physically capable of performing, and although ALL of them have different singing voices than they did originally, these people are still talented singers and entertainers who have the ability and experience to entertain people. And it is a tried and true fact that a different voice does not always mean a "better" or "worse" voice. For instance, I fell in love with tom wait's older voice, the scraggly, scratchy screaming older voice. Its awesome to game to with songs like Hoist That Rag. I also love Neil Young's current voice and the emotion he depicts with it.

Meat Loaf is no exception. His current vocal style is powerful and hard. I love that. And over the past year there have been thousands of satisfied fans who love it as well.

What has happened in Australia is a racist attack. Only it is no race they are attacking, it is the group of "Veteran Rockstars". They are viciously picking apart all his personal qualities (that he has no control over) and telling him that he is not worthy because of those qualities.

This, to me, is the utmost example of singling a person out because of something they cannot control. Be it skin color, gender, or age. And it disgusts me. It disgusts me how hurt they have made Meat over it. He cannot control his age and the changes it makes on his body, neither can any of us.

So to end what I am trying to say. Let me reiterate that nothing about Meat Loaf has changed. He still gives his all, his performances still rock like the previous Hang Cool Tour shows, and he is still a veteran performer who is very, very good at entertaining others.

What HAS changed is that he is being bullied because of who he is. And this I cannot stand for. None of us should stand for this.

And Meat, if your reading this, please, please do not let these people's bullying cause you to end your career. We know your a figher, and you need to stand up to these bullies and say "I will not let you limit my life. Or change my plans for my future just because you hurt me". They dont deserve that power over you. Don't give it to them.

There has never been a more appropriate song than this one, IMO. It's one that filled me with happiness as soon as you started singing it last year:

YouTube Video

especially these lyrics:

"You can't run away for ever
But there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start
You want to shut out the night, you wnat to shut down the sun
You want to shut away the pieces of a broken hear"

"I treasure your love
I never want to lose it
You've been through the fires of hell, and I know you've got the ashes to prove it

I treasure your love
I want to show you how to use it
You've been through a lot of pain in the dirt, and I know you've got the scars to prove it
Remember everything that I told you, and I'm telling you again that it's
true
When you're alone and afraid, and you're completely amazed
To find there's nothing anybody can do
Keep on believing"

If meat calls it a day, then that's fine by me. I'd rather Meat goes on to do things that make him happy rather than have to put up with whatever for very little reward.
