Meat's version does absolutely nothing for me, and, for me, butchered the original. The Fire Inc version is a masterpiece, even if the 'god speed' section is a little overused.

Lol. That's my favorite part. I love how they have three vocal sections going at the same time.

Meat's version was the original. Jim rewrote it for Streets Of Fire.

This is exactly why I love Tonight is What It Means to Be Young, too

Let me reword that. Because I heard the Streets of Fire version first, it's the original to me. Although with that said, I thought that Streets of Fire was first anyway. I wasn't thinking very hard when I wrote that I'll get hate for this, but if Streets of Fire really did come second, then it's proof that you CAN polish a turd >

Streets of Fire is the Original. Even though they were probably both written around the same time. Keep in mind that I consider them to be two completely different songs and one is not a cover of the other.

No it isn't. Jim wrote what became Meat's song first then rewrote it for Streets Of Fire, after which he gave the original to Meat for Bad Attitude.

There is also this version, from the rather appalling-looking sequel to Streets of Fire

I prefer the Fire Inc version myself.

Wow, it would be great if you could provide a link instead of just stating it...

From my point of view, it seems that the streets of fire version came first... Because it was released first.

You share a word in your user name with Evil One but obviously not his sense for subtle irony.

Irony?

Not sure if that's the word.
