Bren.... indeed, was talking about the weather. The sentence that you quoted is a dutch expression... don't know really how to translate that, but Asha was going the right direction i think.

so would it be like we would say, if it was raining heavily that it was

"raining cats and dogs"

or " the rains coming down in stair rods"

or indeed that it's "coming down in buckets"or "bucketing down with rain"

some English expressions for you
