I heard the rumour that it was changing hands, but I thought that was all done now... what with the tickets going on sales as soon as they changed and signed contracts.
Guess its the good old "Waiting game" |

Not such a good old game if you've been paying all this time for a second class service
I really hope that Meat puts some people in place at that site who have a genuine interest in working hard for the fans. |

the copyright still says Signatures at the bottom so i would doubt anything has been changed yet, i would have thought that would have needed to be taken off straight away but i'm not well versed in these things

Firstly i think the official site has been lacking for a long time and this has been debated on a number of occasions...my membership ran out and despite begging by email for me to renew i cannot honestly be bothered...the only thing i seem to be missing at the moment is how the rehersals are going...as it mentions something about flying colours.
RJ I understand what you're saying about a discount, however there's nothing for the people who have paid for the full package if that was to be done and would be pretty unfair based on a seat a few rows back... With that said I understand that they see an opportunity simply to make more money...and that's all it is down to...I think that'll mean less time for everyone to meet Sir Loaf...but for me at the end of it I am meeting Meat Loaf and to meet steven tyler and joe perry would cost $1000 and that's with a fifth of the places available per show. Of course it's a crazy amount but management/promoters/record company/a lot of artists take advantage of fan worship...we fall into the pit gladly |

I remember back to when I went to my first ever Meat concert and sat in the middle of the very back row at Wembley Arena, under the Coca Cola sign...... do you know, I felt really privileged to be there. With each concert I've been to, I've managed to move forward in the audience (thanks to one very special lady here on a number of occasions!!).... and each time, I still feel privileged to be there - sat in the audience, seeing the man for real. Sometimes, I've paid a small fortune to for my ticket, but I've been prepared to do that to get a better view. I've never met the man face to face - hell yes, that would be wonderful, but morally, I just can't get beyond the paying to do that..... to me that's not a privilege, that's just plain wrong. I'd far rather spend the equivalent money partying with my friends from here after the show - they're the people I care about meeting.

Good point Sarah
(I might word this badly so do forgive me...) I think everyone here shows their dedication to Meat and makes sacrifices to support him however they can, whether it's going to every show or arranging babysitters, travel and hotels for one show, and in a way I felt that meeting him for free was almost like a thanks for that...I'm not saying Meat does album signings and promo to thank us, but in a weird way the M&Gs and signings and such like almost felt like a reward for the dedication...am I making any sense?! I'm not saying we're entitled to meet him whenever we like because we're not, but when we've paid for tickets, travel, hotel, time off work etc something doesn't feel right in paying to meet him too |

ok this is gonna seem really rude but i genuinly dont mean it that way, just cant think how to word it better so forgive my ignorance lol
At the end of the day, we buy a ticket for the show, all he needs to give back is a show, thats what we pay for, it's our choice to travel far and stay in hotels etc, he doesnt even have to recognise that let alone reward us for it. Some people think its too much paying anyhting above the ticket price, personally i have been in some great seats and seen some great shows i wouldnt have been able to otherwise without paying more, doesnt really make me more of a fan just my personal preference, i see meet and greets the same way, everyone justifies their own price, some think it should be free while others are happy to pay for the privilage, it isnt part of the show so i see it that i am paying for something seperate to the show if that makes sense Other artists charge too, it isn't a given right for fans to meet their idols, so everyone makes their own choice as to whether they want to pay for the opportunity or wait for the off-chance that he does another signing etc. I dont really see the big debate, you wither want to or you dont None of that probably makes sense but hey i'm hormonal so again i apologise if it comes accross completely the wrong way |

Whether people are happy about paying for M&Gs this time or not I think we've all got to be thankful for how accessible Meat is, and has been, with us. I don't know anyone who has an idol that they've met as many times as people here have with ML

well i have another artisit i idolise almost as much as meat and she doesnt do the meeting people thing, so i have pretty much written off any chances of meeting her, plus if i wanna even see the darn stage this summer i'm looking at the best part of £200, thats without a meet and greet lol so i feel pretty lucky to even be given the option with meat, its up to me if i take it or not, maybe the fact he has been so accessible over the years is his downfall here, people just expcet to meet him for nothing these days, it just doesnt seem to happen much these days with any artist.

Actually Lucy, I've found it has been very few who have met him that often, if at all..... and only then if they've been either very lucky or have gone out of their way to. Sorry, but that's just how I see it. It now seems that that's not enough, and paying for the privilege has reared it's ugly head. There are many here who make a lot of sacrifices, pay a lot of money etc to support him.... I just feel paying for meet & greats is milking the fans for more. |

I don't have any problem with paying to meet Meat. I have met him before when it cost me nowt. That was just luck and a bit of effort travelling.
But thats just me, i guess each person has their own opinions of whether its right or wrong. I have sacrificed other things to afford to do a few M&Gs, thats my choice. Some people spend money on things that i consider a waste, drink being one of them, but other people spend rather a lot on that. Its an individuals choice on what to spend their money on, no one can say that they think its a rip off or not worth the money as we all have different reasons for spending money on whatever. |

With Meat no longer being quite so 'accessible' as he was (as per Lucy and Andy's posts a page back) I think one advantage of the paid M&Gs is that if you want to meet him (and you have the money - and I know that's a big if, and an issue you've all been discussing so I'm not going to go into that bit) then the option is there for you. Previously with the 'won' M&Gs then you're only going to get one if you're lucky but for people who like me have never even won on a tombola if we really want to see Meat and can get the money together and buy a M&G then we can guarantee getting to meet him if that makes sense. I know there's a bit of a morale issue surrounding the paying to meet Meat, but of course if everyone that wanted to see him could without paying, your time with him would be in seconds and he still wouldn't be finished in time for the show!
Ok I make no sense and I apologise. But hopefully someone understands and I haven't tied myself in knots here! |
