I believe I compared her situation to that of Ricky Samboa and Bon Jovi a while back.

I definitely respect that point of view. Ironically I am glad I didn't see Patti on her own tour this year. Sure there is only so much you can gauge / judge from recordings but from what I saw it wasn't a patch on her April stint in 2014. The band members seemed inexperienced / too young compared to SAS and it showed in the quality of the music imo.

Guess we all have different expectations when going to a show. Although I was shocked Patti left the band in 2006 RAH was still fabulous without her. Two years ago I really wasn't sure I'd see Meat again without Patti. But I think I'd definitely go now if I get the chance. Life does go on with changes and sometimes a change isn't always a bad thing even if it takes a bit of a readjustment with expectations.

Me?

Just a sarcastic remark about trying to figure Wario out going by his somewhat wacky post history, nothing insulting to either of you.

Apologies if you are offended.

She was absolutely much more than a "backing vocalist" and easily "replacing" what she did is seldom accomplished. For example I liked the others like Pam Moore but she did not do what Karla did and I think the same applies here and Patti was around much longer than Karla. I think your comparison to Richie Sambora is a good one.

I dug out several of Meat's quotes yesterday including that he did not blame her at all for leaving the Bat3 tour and why he didn't, but I weighed posting it and how certain people get and just let it go. I had other stuff about her return also.

I know some people just want this talk dropped and just say all is pretty much perfect, but since we are talking about an integral part of the shows for over 20 years and it will be something missed by many in the future the topic is valid I think.

IMHO I think Patti is irreplaceable. Especially because of the chemistry Meat and Patti had. Their voices, their interaction matched perfectly. And not to forget Patti's professionalism and qualities to fill in the holes and errors Meat made more often the last years. She was helping him out like no other could.
Fair enough, she saved his ass many times the last decade she sang with him.

I don't think there will be anyone who can be a rock to him as she was.

The other singers, like the Goff sisters, sang with Meat when he was at his best. They did a good job, but didn't have to do the same Patti had to do, because of Meat's own qualities at that time when he was younger.

Anyway, if Meat comes to Europe and I get the chance to see him perform again, I would definitely go see him. I know his best years were in the past. I'll cherish those and listen to live concerts with Patti.
But life is short and I will always embrace and support the man and enjoy his music and the band, with or without Patti. That's my opinion of being a fan. We all know we cannot expect him to give the quality he gave us in the past, so with that in mind I know I will enjoy his performance. He still is there for his fans, I love that, so I'll be there for him.

Yes I am sure the "replacements" are fine as were the Goffs and Pam Moore, etc. but Patti kicked it up a notch beyond.

A lot of Meat's interviews around the time she returned he said letting her go was a mistake.

when he did 3 BATS LIVE without patti it wasn't the same and the press had a field day , Patti is an important part to be honest

I think as much as anything the press had a field day because Aspen looked so young at the first shows .. but as the tour progressed and she demonstrated her ability my recollection is that what negativity there was turned more towards Meat's voice as he was starting to really suffer with the vocal cyst issue .. and let's not forget that time and time again fans (for whom Meat does these shows) rave about how special, how memorable, how fantastic etc the RAH show was.

No-one surely is suggesting Patti wasn't a significant part of the performance. However the tense is past, she WAS an important part, so people might as well accept that. Meat has since had three very successful residencies in Vegas, fans in the USA are delighted about the autumn tour and begging him to come to this city and that and are excited about next summer, and here are clamouring for him to come back to the UK.
