Heres my two cents..
I am sad to see Meat Loaf go, but not at all surprised. There are an awfull lot of people on this site at the moment who are touting "why can't Meat Loaf take criticism"- well, I've been pretty mute on this topic, but now I'm gonna have my say as well. Most of the criticism I have read of Meat on this site, and several others, is not worded as 'criticism' but rather as an attack. When you attack somebody, it forces them to defend themselves. Now, I'm not going to start pointing fingers (because that's rediculous it's nobody's FAULT) but I encourage those, who think Meat Loaf can't take criticism, to re-read the critical posts on this site and ask themselves the following question: "If somebody said this to me, how would I react" Now- before I get a flood of responses saying how 'YOU' would not mind being talked to in that way at all, and how 'YOU' can accept criticism with their head high etc.- let me make it clear- I don't want an answer- I want you to look at the criticisms and think about it, and instead of defending your 'point of view' try to do some soul searching and answer the question honestly, for yourself. No, I don't think Meat Loaf will come back here- and that saddens me, and I don't think I will be able to *pay* for his site, as I am quite poor. I still hope he will come to Canada so I can see my favorite artist in concert -one last time- before he hangs up his mircrophone. Quote:
Having said that- I've recently retired from the Jim Steinman board for the opposite reason- every single time I posted anything POSITIVE about Meat Loaf, I was attacked (I don't care if people from the Jim Steinman fight are offended, it's true and I'M sick of pussyfooting around THAT- the JS site is what it is- and that's just my bloody opinion) So you are incorrect, Manheim, when you say THIS site is the only one who have a majoral point of view. I'm sorry to see Meat Loaf go on his way, as it'll probably be MY last contact with him (theres no concert dates in Canada and I'm quite poor) but it's his decision, and if HE IS as hurt as he seems- I'd do the same thing- Why go someplace that makes you feel crappy, eh? |

Well Meat, you are a GREAT man, and you have made a difference in many people's lives. There is no other feeling like that. You will ALWAYS be my Rock N Roll Hero. You never seen me at your shows, because I am stranded here until 4 more years. You were once in my hometown, but I was too young to know that. I PM'd you twice, but no replys, and that's great you know why. Because, I hear from you in your music. In the words you said at this forum. You taught me how to rock, if it wasn't for you, i'd be a very misserable person. Your music has helped me through the thick and thin. Mostly thick, and for that I thank you. I will definetly be on your new site, I don't care whatever the cost. Thank you Meat, Thank you. I can't convince you to stay, and that's okay. Just Never, Never Stop Rockin' . May you stay Forever Young, and live your life like a Bat Out Of Hell, AND may your Rock N Roll Dreams Come Through! Love ya,

Well..I'm still in a bit of shock. Put a damper on my Birthday! I just wish he and all the band members and families all the best. I hope he reconsiders and comes back and finishes the tour as first planned. I feel lucky to have seen the shows I've seen and had hoped to see more here in the US. I'll try and travel to Europe if I can..but that's not likely. Anway.. my best to all. Thank You. Those in Europe and UK..enjoy the shows and travel safe!! :)

My oh my - what have I done to deserve this?
(1)
Nobody except Meat knows for what you have to pay on his new website. Could be this, could be that. I don't know and I'm pretty sure you don't know too. So stop posting this bullshit about Meat's site until you have your facts straight. (2) Why do you folks always need to find someone who's guilty for something? If I'd decide to shut down this website and the forums, would you go out and look for someone who's guilty for that? Meat decided some time ago to show up as a regular here, and now he decided to go on and take care of his own website. Where's the problem with that? Who is to blame for that? Nobody. In other words: Stop trying to blame other people. That won't help. He made a decision, accept it and get over it. If I can accept this, why can't you? So, pretty please, if you don't have something constructive to say regarding this topic then just shut up. It's quite easy. |

What is there to say? Meat has made his decision, and while we may not like or agree with it, i guess we hafta just accept it. As for who is to 'blame', well, nobody is. Meat is a grown man, who knows his own mind and is more than capable of making his own decisions. If he has decided that the time has come for him to leave these forums, then that is completely up to him.
Yes he may well have felt slighted by some posts that were made, but they were only opinions, and everyone is entitled to thier opinion and should be able to express them freely, without fear of comeback. Guess it's up to the individual, in this case Meat, to interpret them as they will. Yes, i'll miss his contributions, but at the end of the day, we were very fortunate indeed to have him post here in the first place. Perhaps one day Meat might decide to pop back in to see us, who knows? |

I'm am of course gutted that you won't be posting here anymore, but I don't believe in personal attacks, so I'm not going to rant and rave about it.
Fact: I will follow you wherever you go, and ALWAYS wish you luck. You are without doubt the BEST singer there has ever been or probably will be, and you put on the BEST live shows . You were also great in Fight Club Many thanks for the privilege of your presence over the last few months that I have been a member. Above all, NEVER STOP ROCKING! Luv ya 2 Simon. |

Well after reading all of this, I'm sad, about a great many things.
If meat wants to leave and dedicate more time to his new website, fine, his choice, and i think we should respect him for it. But i think a few people, including meat, went to far by there comments. I believe in saying what you feel and what you believe. No need to be insulting though. I wish meat al the best off luck, and I hope to see and hear a great show on Friday. Rock on, A sad Asha |

I have been trying to post here all day and haven't been able to bring my self to do it.
I hope this isn't a rant. It's my feelings and at the moment, and I'm feeling rather sad. When I visit mlukfc, I click on a heading called " Community" and to me that sums up how I have felt about my visits here. In real life, I don't agree with everything my family say and do, but I do support them and back them to the hilt. I don't invite people into my home and then point out their faults. IMO, Opinions should be qualified, Critisism should be cronstructive, and Yes we all have the right to free speech, and following the modern trend we all have "human rights" but what we should never lose sight of is the fact that we all have these rights in equal measure. If we go through life thinking that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, and seeking the unatainable,we will always be disappointed. My take is make the best of what you have and enjoy the moment. Lifes too short my friends far too short...........just read the papers there is tragedy and injust out there in abundance. |

Now look, it really is about time that all this was put to bed. This is the MLUKFC website, as far as I understand it it's what it says - a fan site, that's why our members are so supportive of Meat, don't put us down for that.
What seems to be happening is that a lot of people who don't pay anything to the fan club are getting on the forums and benefitting from freedom of speech , fair enough so long as it's respectful ......but - why don't you pay the fee and join the fan club? Put your money where your mouths are and pay something towards the upkeep of this site and our information which you benefit from. If you're not a member you're living off us the membership and having a go at us for being fans! I had hoped that this would be all over by now but can I reiterate what I said before, the person who appeared to spark Meat's anger is a real fan, he was expressing an opinion and he's entitled to a view (in fact he wasn't saying it was a poor concert) , many contributors we're not there (I wasn't and can't comment on that concert) many were there and thought it was excellent in all aspects. I thought we all would believe in freedom of speech, now for God's sake let this thing drop now! |

Can I just say that apart from apparently not practising what you are preaching...
"I thought we all would believe in freedom of speech, now for God's sake let this thing drop now!" ...that I agree wholeheartedly with what you say about not all fans having to praise every single thing that Meat does. If he wants to leave then that's fine - we are lucky, possibly unique, to have had such an honest and open forum with such an incredible star. He's not going into hiding - he will now have his own site! I've been considering joining the club for some time but cannot afford it right now (new house, new album, new single etc etc ). I hope to join one of the many sites soon... TRex |

Just because we don't want to pay makes sod all difference. Ever think we may not have to money to spend on membership?
I've been here for over a year now, I'm not a paying member, so what? I think I make a healthy contribution to these forums and this site in general, if I can't pay, that takes nothing away from my respect of the man or this site. N00b. |

And I just feel that I need to add, that whilst I'm sure Mike's post was a general observation and just coincidental that it appeared below my post. I am a member of both MLUKFC and OIFC and have been a fan of Meat music since the late '70's.
and yes I am feeling rather touchy at the moment. If you want private webspace then password protect it ensuring that only those who have paid their dues can get in. |

well apart from the fact that meatloaf has gone in anger and not
happily, i thought it was allready more or less taken for granted that he would be leaving us soon anyway, to open his own site? i mean he hasnt got that much spare time that he can be writting on every forum going can he? so it is sad yes but well, rather something that was going to happen sooner or later anyway, but hey we all have a keyboard dont we so surely we can go and leave messages there for him cant we. i mean it isnt like he has gone to the moon is it? and i dont think i want to get in the blame game, just see you around meat. kezzina |

This has been such a sad day, can hardly believe what has happened and that Meat has left. I feel lucky that we had this amazing oppertunity and experience but upset that its finished. but i do think that this is a community, i have some great friends on this site.
But i seriously resent the implication that i am less of a member than some because i haven't joined the fan club. i love meat, i dont think i should have to pay for simply liking him. i am happy to spend my money on films, concerts and albums, but i can't always afford, or am allowed to do everything. i feel increadibly privilidged and lucky to have been taken in with open arms on this site. i am constently in awe of this great man who we all love. i dont think that nit picking or slagging off helps anyone. just my thoughts. |

No wonder Meat left this website when he is subjected to abuse, not criticism, abuse by some. We are supposed to be his fans, not critics, I suppose he gets enough from the media, he does not need it from his FANS, if that's what you call yourselves, the select few. I suppose those who did criticise Meat were fast enough to put themselves forward for a meet and greet, and happily accept it. Of course real fans will defend Meat, we are is fans not critics. Anyway that's enough for me and I won't be reading this topic again, cause I am bored of all this negative crap.
