Dead Ringer singles
I always believed that "Dead Ringer for Love" was the first single from the Dead Ringer album. But then I noticed that its catalog-number (EPCA 1967) is higher than the one of the "I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us" single (EPCA 1580), which would mean that DRfL is the second single, with "Read 'Em and Weep" (EPCA 2012) and "Peel Out" (EPCA 2204) following.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? Likewise, I believe that Two Out of Three was the first single from Bat, with Paradise, Took the Words and Bat following. Correct? (I do have a single with All Revved Up on the A-side and Paradise as the B-side, which would follow Took the Words. But I'm not sure what to make of that one, as I've never seen another mention of it, and I'll be damned if there is a semi-reliable Meat Loaf discography online that I don't maintain myself. So for all I know, it might be a Paradise single with All Revved Up on the B-side.) |

Assuming you're talking about UK releases:
"I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us"/"Everything Is Permitted" - Sept. 1981 "Dead Ringer For Love"/"More Than You Deserve" - Nov. 1981 "Read 'em & Weep"/"Everything Is Permitted" - Mar. 1982 I don't have any record of "Peel Out" being released as a retail single in the UK but it certainly was in Spain & Holland. If anyone can confirm that "Peel Out" was ever released commercially in the UK I'd be very interested to know. "Took The Words"/"For Crying Out Loud" - Mar. 1978 "Two Out Of Three"/"For Crying Out Loud" - Aug. 1978 "All Revved Up"/"Paradise" - Oct. 1978 "Bat Out Of Hell"/"Heaven Can Wait" - Jan. 1979 Hope this helps. I wasn't talking about UK releases specifically, but that does help. Thank you
I was in the middle of updating my website when I noticed that I'm Gonna Love Her For Both Of Us should have been issued earlier then Dead Ringer for Love, and then I got confused. And then I started looking at my Bat singles... several versions from the same single, from several countries, and even when they were from the same country with the same catalog-number, they had a slightly different B-side. Madness. And while we're at it () the correct order of the Midnight singles is If You Really Want To -> Midnight -> Razor's Edge, correct? |
