Default DRFL MSO MIMED???

I was looking at ROL's videos like I sometimes do and came across Meats performance at the national lottery somwhere between 1999 and 2002.

Meat seems to be miming to the MSO version of the song (Which is Identical).

Begs me the question, was the MSO performance mimed? MSO was filmed in 2004 and that looks like a 1999 Meat.

Heres the two links:

http://www.republic-of-loafdom.com/M...erLottery2.htm

While I'm on this, Meat seems to be miming the Hudson Theater (Live around the world) recording of Took the Words:

hope i dont get shot for this

This looks like it's around 1998/99 judging by Patti's hair and the lack of Paul in the band so I think this is 100% live on this occassion, but could be wrong.
Also Pearl toured with her father around 1998/99 time.

my understanding was that thex 'fixed' some of the vocals on the DVD/CD with earlier live recordings. Most prominently noticable on CHSIB.

It's definitely the 1999 band as Ray, Damon and Tom are there, but on the basis it's on the BBC National Lottery I'd have guessed at mimed...

Most BBC TV shows like the Lottery are mimed, regardless of the artist, it's BBC policy.

On another note, Chris, can you please make sure you post new threads in the right place, saves me having to tidy up in a morning

I remember the lottery dead ringer for love and it was definitely the mimed (lip synced) from the Live Around The World version

But then again, Meat seems to do this a lot, I remember him being on Jack Dee's show years ago and miming not a dry eye in the house, on this morning he mimed anything for love, there was another bbc show where he mimed cry over me and on strictly come dancing he certainly mimed it's all coming back to me now.

With overdubs and edits and the various technology that can make bad singers sound fantastic god knows what is being used on life dvd's

This might go down like a lead balloon but I'd rather see Meat mime on tv (be it because he's chosen to or because the TV company have made him) which I watch for free and 'save' the live performances for tour which I pay to see

I would never of thought Dead Ringer MSO version was mimed.... sorry, I cant remmeber studying it alot - I just rocked to the whole thing

Being a LIVE DVD I woulda thought it was live, and I know some pieces were fixed, but 3 Bats is 100% Live

Oh and may I also add, that I heard (not sure if this is entirely true or not) but you mime on TV, because there's not enough time (especially in a live airing) to setup the band gear etc... hence its mimed to either a pre-recorded live version track or the original studio recording.

Either way, Meat seems to do both well - even when miming he really sings in...

the lottery show is a lip-synch to the 1995 Live in the Neighborhood version of DRFL, as can be heard on the Live Around The World CD. They also mimed to this on TFI Friday as well.

Main reason i thought that was because it started with the drums brief intro and that meat had to walk down the steps from the studio to the stage, plus i didn't think any of TFI's performances were mimed...if that were the case Shaun Ryder cursing about 20 times during a song (think it was the sex pistols) on live tv wouldn't have happened and I seem to remember Chris Evans holding his head in his hands and apologising afterwards.

That's one of the reasons, also that way they can control the quality better. With a live performance you never know if it's gonna be out of tune, etc, so they in 99% of the cases they choose to have the artists mime their songs.
I personally would prefer a real live performance, even if theyre a chance of it being flat or out of tune, to a boring lip-synched version, but that's just my personal opinion.

cant tell with DRFL, but TTW seemed very live to me, his intake of breath followed the note and sound produced exactly.

what are you talking about? TFI Friday is a British show from the 90s. Meat was a guest, and he 'sang' DRFL. Where does it say he performed these others too? As far as I remember, he was interviewed, and then did the one song.

London Studio Concert Oct 31st, 1998, filmed in a (nearly) empty studio, and later broadcasted on dutch tv. Completely different thing.
If you want to know more about it, you better ask Debbie.
