Aww that poor thrush !!

I remember when I had my budgie she used to fight with her reflection as she saw it as a rival, also had the odd bird fly into the windows at home, recently a blackbird broke it's neck with the force that it hit the window, it was decaying slowely in the front flower bed for weeks afterwards.

All I can say to that is...ew!

My friend had a bird commit suicide against her patio window on her balcony. When I went to stay with her, she hadn't been on the balcony for three days - made me shift the bird as she wouldn't go anywhere near it!

Also, my cat used to find mirrors very intriguing and would keep looking behind them for the 'other cat' - til she realised it was herself.

I thought you were SUPPOSED to give budgies mirrors because they like the company? Well, either that or they are very vain creatures. Maybe your budgie had issues with her own image Emma!

I think you generally give bird a mirror - not the real one but pet one...guess they like company...

As I was growing up in Ukraine we had a beautiful garden near the house...every bird that escaped captivity sooner or later wound up there...we had canaries, parakeets, parrots...you name it...flying all over the place...
