That is not an Extended Version. It is The Neverland Express playing the song live (probably during the Ken Bruce sessions I would have guessed) whilst Meat's vocals were taken directly from the original album track. Meat's vocals were quite poor that morning on the show hence I think they decided to present the song like this as they were still toying with the idea of releasing the song as the second single at that stage. I actually believe the song didn't go out on the radio like the rest did that morning, it was a bonus download on the Ken Bruce website which came available later during that day (Wednesday 18th October 2006).

It's crazy to thnk Meat did the Royal Albert Show a mere 2 days before this as he sounded awesome that night and was probably the best concert experience.

This version does sound ~~~~ing awesome though.

Royal variety, remember this, as he sang Dead Ringer before this, and to be honest he sounded poor on that, but maybe that down to the awesome performance he gave at Royal Albert Hall.

Royal Variety show was almost a month later and indeed they used that audio track to make it sound live with Meat only doing some adlib at the very end (which didn't sound great if I'm being honest):

Info on 2006 RV

As I remember, Meat had to use the track because he was initially going to take the band with him but then the organisers said he couldn't - which by the way is wrong because other bands there that night had full backing??!!!

Anyway, because at that stage, it was too late to get a backing track made, he had to use that one which was previously recorded..... And a cracking good one as well... I love the live versions of songs, the arrangements are awsome!!

I remember reading it either here or on .net forums.... but dont quote me on this lol

Btw Chris, Which software do you use?

Yes Meat did make some comments about this hinting at what you are saying but in my opinion those are just excuses.
Surely the set piece for Dead Ringer would have taken longer to put together / rehearse with Jamelia (sex on legs!) and the dancers etc than to take the live backing track recorded for Ken Bruce (which obviously already had Meat's vocals removed in the first place so they could put the album vocals on top of it) and give that original tape to the audio guys at the show and sing on top of it.
I'd rather not see Meat mime at all. I can appreciate BAAB is a much more difficult song to sing than Dead Ringer and the importance of giving a perfect rendition in preparation for a single release but I just don't buy the excuses. Even just hearing it live with a pianist and a softer / less strenuous arrangement would be preferable I think. I am however glad he did sing Dead Ringer live as it redeemed himself quite a bit I think.

Sorry but I just don't like the Britney Spears-esque approach of miming songs during such shows, it's not what I expect from Meat and I am extremely glad he USUALLY NEVER does this.

On another and completely unrelated note Britney Spears miming during her X factor performance whilst all the contestants are actually singing live on the show and her getting away with that is just outrageous I think.
