Whatever happened to Steve Buslowe and Pat Thrall? I always thought they were excellent in the band.

No great conspiracies or anything. They both just had enough of touring with Meat and wanted to do something else. I agree they were both excellent, Buslowe in particular. In fact, replace Kasim with Buslowe and you'd have my ideal NLE line up.
