Which one do you prefer; Welcome to the Neighbourhood or Couldn't have Said it Better
The single debate made me curious as to know what everyone thought so here is a poll. Don't think it's been done before, but I may be wrong?
There are definitely similarities between the productions and some of the songs I'd say. I prefer CHSIB as I think some of the songs are much better but then it also contains songs that are worse than anything on WTTN, which is probably a more rounded album I'd say. Still CHSIB gets thumbs up from me because of the title track and DIST which are some of the best non Steinman tracks I've heard Meat do. |

Overall WTTN is much better, even though the quality nosedives towards the end. CHSIB has some great songs, but a lot of filler.
Why bother. It looks more authentic that way! |

Well it is hard to decide as they are both fantastic, but I think I like Couldn't Have Said It Better, just a little more than Welcome To The Neighbourhood. But they both do have some amazing songs on them.

This was hard. but overall: WTTN.
While CHSIB has Testify, Its title track, DIST, Mercury Blues, and Love You Out Loud, I personally think WTTN is better produced and executed. WTTN has no fillers. |

I like WTTN better. CHSIB contains some cool tracks but too many boring tearjerkers for my liking. I skip about 50% of the songs. On WTTN I even listen to the Warren stuff, which I avoid on CHSIB. WTTN is still a rock album, in spite of Mrs. Warren's contributions while CHSIB is more pop. Don't know why he picked Forever Young of all Dylan songs.

Like many of Dylan's songs I think the title / message it sends was more the reason rather than the music itself. Bob Dylan has some songs which contain much nicer melodies and chord progressions but are not as well known as say Forever Young. Some of my favourites are "Every Grain of Sand" and "Shooting Star". Think a Meat Loaf cover of those two would sound beyond amazing.

I value both albums, but if I had to have one wrested from my hands I'd hang on to CHSIB, which for my money has no "fillers", and I adore the ballads. I love every track, love Meat's vocals, and the mature passion of it. I play it more often than WTTN. Forever Young was the perfect ending, and pulls at my heart every time I hear it. It never came across as special when Dylan sang it, but Meat brings such depth to it.

Ugh! I wrestled with this comparison. Such an uncomfortable battle.
I went with CHSIB. But it just edges WTTN by a nano-measurement. |

WTTN by a mile!!! I have explained why I love this album several times in other threads. I'm glad it's winning in the poll too, it's a fair reflection.
