An Argument about you tube and Springsteen.

I have gone thru almost 75% of Bruce on You tube . There is not a single shaky Phone video from a fan in the whole bunch. There are fades , close ups, some the tracks have been repaired. There some Live TV shows. NO SHAKY PHONE FAN VIDEOS. WHEN WE GET CAMERAS IN OCT FOR NEW ZEALAND and Aust. WE are playing the cup Final in Melbourne.
That tour will bring some songs HIAHB out . Still going to Keep the First 5 songs in the show the way we are now. Anyway, I will put up some of that live footage for all to see. That is what Bruce has done. Can't have all this bootleg shit good or bad. I am leaving certain ones up now but they will all come down. Shaky fan stuff NO. I'm moving to the Stones next .

What about old footage from previous tours? Its good for fans to see footage of things they might have missed in the past. Agreed some of the footage is so shacky and distorted that it is unwatchable but there are some gems from the past. Do u (meat) have any quality old footage you could share with us?

How did you manage to do that? When I search for "Bruce Springsteen" on YouTube, I get about 95.000 results.

That's great news!! I agree, I just saw a few videos from the RI show and you can barely hear your singing, it does nothing for you. And I could hear enough to figure out that 2 outta 3 was likely amazing. When I'm looking for recent live video from springsteen or bon jovi, i rarely see crap cellphone video. A lot of it is HD qualilty or professionally shot and probably uploaded by the band, and it makes them look fantastic. I think you definitely should think about controlling your web presence on youtube just like you've done on the new website and facebook. Theme it up and sculpt it to give off the impression you want it to in terms of live video performance.....which means we all get to watch HD video of the show

I know alot about editing, masters, film production, and muti-camera synchronization.

I am willing to bet shows like Hudson and Rotterdam's multi camera set ups aren't fully edited together correctly. Only fully edited of the bunch is probably HCW which is on Classic Albums.

plus maybe mountains of shit we dont know exists.

The soundboards probably need some restoration, though.

It will be a dream way to spend a good month or two going through forty years of treasure.

Back to topic: I think it's cool that Meat is about to do what some people have suggested on here before. Removing videos from YouTube could be like shooting yourself in the foot as long as an official alternative isn't available, so providing decent videos is a good idea.

They haven't. It just depends on the way you do your search whether you get to see them or not.

Ah, yeah true, probably depends which filter you choose.

Regardless, Springsteen has some fantastic quality videos on youtube that offset the bad ones. So people will obviously choose the HD quality proshot videos over the bad ones...Which basically removes the need to weed through all the bad ones and delete them.

Anyway I must say it's great to hear you use the YouTube medium to promote yourself. YT has done a positively lot to/for the HC tour. OK it only works when the artist is actually good and that you have been throughout the tour. Even the shaky phone vids couldn't make you look bad although I agree that they aren't really a plus.

I've mentioned 2007 a few times on this board and YouTube prooves that those days are in the past and that you rock again like it's 1999

Especially for the people not living in the U.S. or the U.K. this is their oportunity to see how hard you worked to get back to the top of your performance. Really good news!

There are way more Springsteen videos on YouTube than Meat Loaf videos. Even if Springsteen (or people working for him) had the time to have all the bad ones removed, hardly anyone would notice or care, I assume. If Meat really gets rid of all the inofficial videos, he will probably remove a huge part of the total number of Meat Loaf related videos. Furthermore, some people unfortunately live in a country in which the official videos are not available - I can't access most of Springsteen's official videos, for example, even most of the stuff on his own channel is blocked.

If I want to see Bruce on YouTube, I depend on the numerous videos that have been uploaded by fans. YouTube is very popular though, you often stumble upon interesting artists accidentally there, so if Meat is going to replace "all this bootleg shit" by a few of his own videos, he should find a way to make sure that they are available and attract people in a similarly effective way.
