Every computer I have owned has been either a HP or Dell pc. But lately my interests have focused on video, audio, photo areas ---not to mention I own an iPhone and iPod already... In which case I have been considering a Mac, since those subjects are suppose to be key parts to a Mac.
The problem is that it also scares me! LOL What if it is too different and I never give it all of it's potential bc I don't know how to use a Mac? Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? Thanks!!!! |

I have owned 2 HP computers and 2 Dell laptops in my life. The latest Dell was there top of the line with Windows 7 and I hated it. It was sluggish and froze up constantly. So, for the first time in my life I bought a Mac.
I bought the 13 inch Macbook Air laptop with the new Lion OS pre installed and I have to say that I am in love with this thing. It is incredibly quick and resposive, never freezes up and for video, audio, and photos, Mac's come preloaded with some great programs. It comes with iPhoto, iMovie, and Garageband all of which are easy to use and very full featured programs. I have to say that I will never go back to a Windows based PC again because Macs just simply work so much better. They are also easy to use and the OS is very user friendly. Having never touched a Mac before, I had a feel for the OS within about 3 days. Macs have slightly different keyboards, and a COMMAND key that will probably have not seen before. However, once you learn all the neat stuff you can do with it, you will like it. My personal opinion, take the plunge and get you a Mac. |

Well me and my boyfriends computers are the same age; mine is incredibly slow and his Mac is fantastic so I'd say Mac all the way they aren't that hard to use either

For the vhs conversion, i use a converter i got at walmart for like 50 bucks. It hooks up to the tv, has vhs on one side and dvd on the other and converts automatically. As far as loyalty, Apple products are American, excrpt for the minor detail that they are made in China under sketchy conditions, but that's a discussion for a huffpo blog.

My other half uses a Mac Pro as it's the music industry standard (sick of her telling me how quick it is, never drops the wireless collection etc etc etc) but to transfer video we just bought a lead that runs direct from the video to the mac.

Yeah Macs are indistry standard for video and music production.
Macs are awesome, rarely ever crash, and well worth the 2k you put into it. Only downside is the charge goes by real quick (4 hours or so) |

I don't have anything against Macs and they do look awesome plus I accept they do dominate the industry, however... I'd just like to say I have a Windows 7 PC that has only crashed twice since I installed it the day out came out, both times it was due to a website. It runs superbly quickly and stably and has some neat new features vs xp. Couldn't comment on the software but I'd be very surprised if there was anything a Mac could do that a Pc can't.
