Default 83. Forever Young

This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!

Forever Young (8)

I think it is one of the best song on the album and the best on the 2nd chapter. It's so much better than Bob Dylan's version. That is only with an acoustic guitar. I love the chello at the end and here is Meat's voice is the best on the album. He's singing with deep emotions and it's touching. The lyrics isn't really excellent but the mood raises up this song...
Typical last song.

My score: 8

Average: 8.63 (164/19)

Some other fan said to me during the concert back in april that this song is old fashioned. the lyrics are just horrible. Same shd as My way from Sinatr. i think he is right. and the melody is not moving my emotions. the voice is great though.

I agree, White. One of the best songs on the album (but not The best on chapter two, to me). But absolutely/totally/incredibly beautiful!
I also find it difficult to 'accept' a different version of a song I already like a lot. I LOVE this version. Perfect as the last song on this album, imo.

9,5/10

The more i listen to this one, the more it grows on me.

I wasn't too keen when i first heard it, i didn't think it was right for Meat, but now i find myself singing along.

Forever Young - Meats rendition is superb - An Anthem of Anthems - Sung with such emotion brings a tear to my eye. I'm sure if this is sung at any of the finales of the concerts there will not be 'A Dry Eye In The House' if you find it doesn't make you feel incredibly moved you must be a 'Man of Steel'. Aaron Zigman on piano superb - cello Stephen Erdody magnificient

Not my favorite song. I've never had much with Bob Dylan's songs... and this is no exception... the lyrics sound a bit cheezy... and I'm not very found of the arrangement. If only it would have been Meat singing just accompanied by cello and piano (I really like that combination)
Not bad, Meat sings it well... and the intrumental ending is great... 7/10

I don't think the original Dylan version in the early 70s was just with accoustic guitars although accoustic guitar versions did feature on later compilation albums.

Bob Dylan was one of the first singers I became really interested in listening to and I was a fan of Bob Dylan long before I became interested in Meat Loaf music. I really love Dylan's early version of this. Meat's version is very different. He sings it well and it is pleasant to listen to but my heart is really with the Bob Dylan version.

Having said that Meat puts a lot more emotion into his singing and if it is meant as a message to his fans it's a really nice gesture.

Edit: It took me a long time to actually hear Meat singing this. Bob Dylan's voice was in my head everytime it played. Now I'm hearing Meat's voice I find I like this a lot.
New score:8.5/10

This song moves me. It's a combination of the lyrics and Meat's voice. I especially like the part at about 3 mins 8 secs into the song when he goes into the chorus, when Meat's voice is at it's highest and strongest.

8/10

Although the back cover says 10.50, it's actually 5.03 -- at least, that's my version after I liberated Mercury Blues :)

I like this song more and more every time I hear it, it's really moving up in my list of favorites on CHSIB. I would love to hear this live, it seems like a great "thank you and farewell" song from Meat to his fans.

Forever Young, is an excellent track, the mood, the voice, the music is 150% I love this song, it has such a stuck on me! I love the Cello. The guitars and the cello and the voice, it's really soothing. Meat always makes the best of the end of a record, and my friend, you certainly didn't let me down. This is probably by far the best ending to a record yet! Great job Meat, Great Job. Oh, nice hidden track. :P I heard it was sung straight through. Absolutely fantastic vocals.

Bob Dylan's - 3\10 for the effort (not counting the words, cause the words are beautifully written. )

Rod Stuart's Version - I ain't to keen of either, but I would give it a 4.5\10.

11\10 - Meat Loaf's great everything.
