Meat Loaf Interview in University magazine
Hi all,
I found this interview in our university magazine UNICUM (<- nothing to do with cum *lol*). I have translated it for you. Meatball Meat Loaf talks about eating, drinking and his optimum weight. Now there he sits. The man who has already been called “Meatloaf” by his dad when he was a child. Meat Loaf keeps his eyes closed and does the only sport he’s good at: Headbanging on the hotel sofa, while he is playing his new songs to UNICUM author Katja Schwemmers. In former times, the actor and singer with the powerful voice just looked like minced meat. Today, he rather looks like a meatball. “Though I never was as fat as my image. I used to wear white clothes on purpose, to look bigger.” Meat Loaf, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, assures us. He is even done with his spring-diet already. “I have started on that 15 years ago,” he admits, laughing, “it took me 15 years to lose 50 pounds.” Now, Meat Loaf has reached his “optimum weight” of 113 kilos and is fit. And he has to be, because after eight years his new studio album “Couldn’t Have Said It Better” has been released, a tour follows in autumn. What is Meat’s concept for losing weight? “I eat Caesar salad every day. The dressing hardly has fat and it is perfect for my diet. Moreover I like stewed broccoli and tomatoes. And I only drink light coke without caffein, and ice-tea. Because caffein is not good for the metabolism.” Doesn’t Meat Loaf drink alcohol either then? “I hardly ever drink alcohol these days. Lately at a friend’s birthday party I tasted a few Margharitas. After that, I ran around and told several Hollywood-stars to piss off. That’s not nice. And alcohol has too many calories.” Has he ever joined the Weight Watchers? “No, the discipline has to come out of yourself. Nevertheless, it’s all about changing habits.” Meat Loaf is said to have already been really fat as a boy. Everyone has made fun of him, so it’s said in his biography. “Unfortunately, my parents have trained me to eat like that. Sometimes I didn’t even know what it all was that I have eaten. Sometimes I felt like I would burst.” The insight about his eating habits didn’t come too late for Meat Loaf. Nevertheless, he doesn’t want to end up like one of his relatives. “All Adays are big and heavy. But Elvin, one of my father’s brothers, was so fat that one night he managed to lock himself up in the boot of his car, being totally pissed. He eventually had to be lifted out by the fire brigade.” And that’s why Meat today is quite picky about his food. “I am VERY picky! I hate cooking myself, though. My kitchen is always tidied up nicely. Since I’m a workaholic I live in hotels mostly, anyway. I love room-service!” His favourite restaurant is located in his place of residence, Los Angeles, and offers an excellent French cuisine. Does Meat Loaf know the ‘Yo-Yo-Effect’? “Sure, because you are doing a diet all life long. But with me it’s the case that it always goes up a few pounds, you can regulate that.” And after all, the women scream for his meat at his concerts anyway, Meat claims. And then the 55-year-old tells us about the rare moment where he just this once had felt as light as a feather. “In the film ‘Fight Club’ I played a 400-pounds-heavy recruit. I had to wear an artificial limb for my belly. And when I took it off, I suddenly was just the half.” |

Thanks!
Great post, I enjoyed reading it. I agree with Meat, whether heavier or thinner, he's always been a sex icon for a fairly large female fan base, or as he put it in the aricle "after all, the women scream for his meat at his concerts anyway. " He's been hot at every size!
