Default Patti Russo - Thanks for a wonderful 20 years

A lot has been said on another thread, but I thought It would be great if we could have a thank you thread to Patti, for a great 20 years. Pictures, stories, or simple thanks. I will start with one of my favourite photos of Patti.....

Good idea, going to thank Patti on her facebook page as I know she doesn't come here. She's a rock legend.

Patti has been a hugely talented and perfect foil for Meat on tour for 20 years. I will miss the tours, miss seeing those big eyes, huge smile and dramatic faces, miss seeing what drama they have cooked up for Paradise each time. So a big thank you from me for all those years, and I wish her all the success she deserves in the future.

The LaB tour was a moving reminder of just how incredibly lucky Meat was to have found a songwriter as unique, talented & full of character yet unbelievably perfect for him as Jim.

Every show I've attended in the last 20 years, even (perhaps especially) the couple she was absent from, has reminded me of how lucky Meat was to be able to repeat the trick and find an onstage partner so talented, unique and unbelievably perfect for him as Patti.

Of course there have been and will be others, some good and some no doubt great, but to me those two partnerships represent a level of untouchable perfection.

Thanks to Meat as always. Thanks to Patti for two decades. I look forward to hopping onboard whichever bus you kick next.

I have seen Meat live more times than some people would say a sane person ever would.

I have seen Meat with

Kati Mac
Kati Mac & Doreen Chanter
Amy & Elaine Goff
Patti
Patti & Pearl
Patti & CC
CC & Aspen
Patti & CC - again
& Patti on her own again

Without a shadow of a doubt Patti has been the ONLY female vocal that has been a match not only vocally but in stage presence for Meat & for me Meat onstage without Patti no matter how good the 2 new girls are would be incomplete. They were & always will be for me the perfect match for each other.

Nothing else I say could convey my feelings and appreciation for what Patti has given us over 20+ years better than that.

Best of luck in the future patti, you have been a huge part of my meat loaf experiences for so many years. Good luck also to the new girls.

Big thank you to Patti for being such a significant part of the soundtrack to my childhood. You'll be very sorely missed Not that you'll ever read it, but best of luck to you for the rest of your career! I can guarantee I'll be first in line to buy any music you ever produce

Thumbs up

I mentioned on the dismissal thread that Patti has a Patti Russo forever closed group on face book. You ask to join and a lovely person OK's it quickly. It has a mod and Patti is in the group. she will then get to read how we feel about her.
we love you Patti

I thanked Patti on her FB.

She's wonderfull and I was happy to meet her in person at the M&G in Zwolle.
I think she's one of the best female singers in the world. I really hope she will continue singing and have great successes!

Thanks Patti!

The point of the thread was to try and bring an element of positivity to the forum. Whether Patti did or did not see this thread was not the issue, it was more about us sharing our love for Patti rather than squabbling over something which we know nothing about.
I guess I was just being naive that people here were interested in being positive when arguing is much more fun

Well after seeing meat at Newbury on Saturday I have to say I was totally shocked and gutted to see that patti was missing. I have been a devout fan of meats since the early nineties, followed him all over and consider myself a mega fan but also a fan of patti's too. She is as much of the live experience just as meat is in my opinion. And personally although the two new ladies did a good job it just looses a bit of shine for me. I was greatly disappointed. However meat was in fine spirits and I thought he was far better than he was a couple of months or so ago when I saw him last (and my final patti show).

I wish patti all the very best, she is by far the best vocalist meats had with him (in my opinion) and I hate that it was all done so suddenly.
I will always love and support meat and be a fan til the end but I think patti's legacy in the NLE is a huge void to fill and I'm not sure it will ever be...

I'm very sad to see Patti out of the band.
She's been Meat longest serving female by far, and IMHO his greatest onstage foil.
They always had such a great report with each other on stage, bouncing off each other, adlibbing to put each other off, you can see from their smiles that they weren't just playing a gig and going through the motions, they were having FUN.

I was lucky enough to meet her in 2003 after a concert at Wembley, and found her completely charming. I know from many many posts on here that i'm not alone in that opinion. I've never seen anybody say a bad word about her. About her performance or about her interaction with fans. I've certainly never heard anyone say that they wanted to say hello to her and she was too busy.
At Wembley she seemed genuinely delighted to be talking to me. Even though she had just done a hard nights work, she was totally engaged, and didn't seem to be in any rush to get the hell out of dodge and enjoy some very well earned down time.

She's a wonderful person, a fantastic theatrical performer, and an amazing singer.
That voice, man that voice............

Meat and his fans have been very fortunate to have had this talented and exceptional lady as part of our family for the last 20 years.

I'm sure that doors will continue to open for her professionally, and the loss of the Meat Loaf world will be another artist's gain.
I look forward to seeing and following what she does in the future.

Thank you Patti, so very very much, for all you have given us.
We love you very much xxx

Thank you Patti for 20 amazing years with Meat. Thank you for the superb strong vocals, the funny banter, the funny acts, the serious drama when required and for gracing the stage with your sexiness all those years. From starring on all superb live renditions of AFL back in 1993 to saying farewell after Boneyard in Manchester it really has been fantastic to watch you grow as a performer and be the prefect singing partner for Meat. It was very special to meet you briefly again after the show in Manchester.

I can only think The Future ain't what it used to be.

However I will follow your subsequent career with great interest and hope to see you perform live sometime again soon.

Thank you for 20 fabulous years, Patti. You are the greatest female performer I have seen on Meat's stage. I will be in the audience to see you touring with Cher or the SAS Band or as a solo artist. Keep rockin'!

Patti Russo...no-one in the world makes me feel fatter, frumpier and under-dressed like this woman, thank you for 20 years of making me feel like I could have made a little more effort!

But seriously, one of the most talented, charismatic, soulful, beautiful (inside and out) people I could wish to meet, it's been an honour and a privilege to have watched Patti for 20 years and I wish her nothing but happiness for the future.

Don't be sad because it's over, smile because it happened.
