Default No Meat Loaf at Anaheim tonight :( Please reschedule later!

Everyone knows that Meat's show at The Grove in Anaheim, Tuesday, 5 August 2003, was cancelled and I wish him a speedy recovery. I know if I get laryngitis, I can't even talk let along sing and it certainly is more damaging to try to sing--there is just no way. Please Meat try to reschedule a show sometime during this tour to come back and play at the Grove in Anaheim!! It is a great venue. They did a great job calling everyone (at least those that ordered tix from the box office) to let them know the show was cancelled and also had the notice on their site (by about noon).

Anyway, I guess I should be glad I did get to see him with Cyndi at the Universal Amphitheatre. However, for as early as I bought my ticket to see him there before the general public (back in April as a subscriber member of the Premiere Marquee Club--Platinum Level no less), I was not very close and that was disappointing. I wouldn't have minded except for the fact I was sitting in the middle of either not very big Cyndi or Meat fans or a bunch of industry people that were just there to socialize and didn't really get into the show. Now Meat nows what I'm talking about and maybe some others might have had the same experience (I was sitting in the middle section a bit to the right and about 4 rows down from the soundboard.--sorry no time to check my exact seat location). The reason I say Meat knows is well you can read the review elsewhere here where Meat made a comment about Los Angeles audiences. Now, that is true but I just saw Queensryche and Dream Theatre there and I saw a whole place that was into the music and not a bunch of industry types. Anyway, in the row in front of me were people talking during the concert and on their cell phones (at least not drunk and as rude as what I read about Konocti Harbor). In my row the guy next to me turned the glow off his phone (good, because the next show I go to if someone is yakking on their cell phone I'm going to tell them to take it outside or I'll throw it out the door and they can go get it). Anyway, a few people down in my row was "Mr. Beer Guy". You would think a person could try to limit their interruption of people watching the show by maybe waiting for intermission to buy their beer or take a break. Or, waiting until the end of a song before making everyone get up, but no. "Mr Beer Guy" has to make several trips during the show to get his beer and a break for the result of that. I was at the end of the aisle. I tried to see if there was a seat I could go to closer that had less people movement, but no. Now, the reason I know these were industry types is about 4 songs into Meat, they all packed up and left.

I was so looking forward to the Grove show because it was going to be just Meat fans. And I was going to be in the front aisle right next to the stage so I wouldn't have to worry about rude people walking in front of me. And, I bought the new CD through Amazon UK as soon as I could and I've been playing it all this time (you know US fans are not going to wait for the US release). I was so looking forward to singing along in the front row and standing for the whole show--hey, Meat could have watched me if he forgot a lyric and I could help! The last time I saw Meat in concert was back when he played at UCLA--what was that, almost 9 years ago now?
I kept hoping and waiting he would eventually play closer to LA. The Universal show was good, but the people weren't. I was hoping for the magic of like the crowd he played to at UCLA (I believe a lot of family and friends were at that show because he even commented on it.)

Well, my final plea is for Meat to hopefully work into the schedule a show at the Grove in Anaheim or the House of Blues on Sunset. A special show for the hard core Meat fans.
(Ted Nugent and Alice Cooper just played at HOB and that crowd was excellent!)

When this show was rescheduled the first time, it then fell on the same date as Boston at Universal. However, a front row Meat Loaf ticket wins out over a Boston concert any day. I was able to turn my ticket in a few weeks ago to the Premiere Marquee club due to a "scheduling conflict" and they refunded my credit card (but, of course, now I have no Meat show and no Boston show tonight.)

In fact, Meat, here is a cross advertising plan. There is a pretty good size crowd of people that go to the Fairfax Laemmle once a month (midnight 4th Friday of each month) to see Hedwig www.rainbowcarnage.org. We even had John Cameron Mitchell there about a year ago with some other people associated with the movie production. He even commented that at the time they weren't even doing that in New York yet. Heck, even Elvira stopped by to promote the showing of her movie during Hedwig which played the following week (to a sold out crowd). Anyway, this crowd knows about your version of "Tear Me Down" --I even asked JCM about it when he appeared at the Sunset Laemmle last year and had a Q&A after the movie. If the show is rescheduled in LA/Orange County, maybe a visit or some sample copies of CHSIB to give out as door prizes would be great advertising. (There is a great word-of-mouth network--so good that the first time they did the Hedwig at midnight they sold out the theatre and it was all done through the internet and passing out handbills on the sidewalk--no ads in any newspapers or anywhere--what a group!)

Get well Meat and please come back to do a show in either Orange County or Los Angeles County. I'm also glad I got to see you do the live taping of "The List" with Alice Cooper, etc., and was very cool to see you at the AC Celebrity AM a year or two ago!

Oh Big Momma!!!

It has never left the theaters yet! People still dress up and throw stuff and have an absolutely glorious time at Rocky Horror.

Where are you located? Maybe I can find you a theater nearby!!!
