Default is THE GIVING TREE the song that should've been a single?

All of Me felt like a meh single (as well an ok song, nothing stand-out). with GT being the only HIAHB song still standing, its quite obvious Meat may have wished that was released.

I dont understand, if a record company wants to MAKE MONEY, why just shovel out a single of the first song on the record?

It def wasn't a meat decision i dont think.

I remember talks of a Giving Tree music video a couple years ago too

I like Giving Tree but I also really like All of Me, I don't think that was a bad choice for a single release. Maybe there should have been more than one single!

Would have been neat if Meat released the entire album online for free and did a rolling low budget music video for the entire thing, well produced though. Neil Young did that for his Semi-live album called Le Noise back in 2009, and I relate that strongly to HIAHB...Loved his release when he did just that and it got lots of attention!

Any real single with a clip would have been nice.

Personally I have to say that All of Me got me excited for the album. So for me it's a good single for the album.

But, with the knowledge we have now, Meat enjoys playing GT live. So in that perspective it would have been better if that was a single.

All in all, with Los Angeloser as the only video from the last two albums, Meat hasn't been lucky with the promoting of his songs. Which is a shame as, especially HiaH had some potential

Other than a few songs most of HIAB seems like leftovers from HCTB which I believe they are. OK songs but not the same calibre

Perhaps but more in the style that I like. It's also a matter of personal taste. Personally I didn't find any of the HCTB songs enjoyable. In case of HiaH there were a few songs I did not like.

So left overs or not, I find HiaH a better album than HCTB. Purely based on my personal taste

I'll tell you what I think should have happened.

1. Better promotion.
2. Music video/videos.
3. Five songs could have been singles from the album, including IMO "All of me", "The giving tree", "Live or die" (which could be on "The Walking Dead"), "California dreamin'" and "Stand in the storm". And even then, I would add "Fall from grace".

As I've said before, ever since CHSIB, I feel they have let Meat Loaf down, e.g. "The future ain't what it used to be" could have been a single after Jennifer won the Oscar for Dreamgirls. "Blind as a bat" also could have been a single. Do you want me to keep going? lol

My favorite song from the album is Another Day, but ... I also like "All Of Me", so ... so it's good that it was the first single.

But I also think that "The Giving Tree" should've been a single. Why? It's good song and it was (and it is) giving to public eye on Meat's concerts. What's more: Meat is happy with that song (it is on his concerts nowadays) and this is important to me.

So how should things to be handeld with the new album?

Go for one strong single or perhaps use a few songs for videoclips that -when played together- tell one story? Would that work in this era?

Maybe put one or two songs up on Itunes (or similar platforms) for free? Mainly as a promoting tool?
