Default Playing music vids from CDs in a DVD player

Does anyone have a DVD player that can play music vids from cds (eg the CHSIB single)? While I was reading the OIFC CHSIB message board, I came across this post:

http://boardserver.superstats.com/re...=479&f=3&u=vee

Now my computer is quite old and doesn't have a cd writer, new computers are expensive and if I can find a DVD player that can play music vids rather than paying more money for a computer, I'd rather take that option.

Does anyone have a DVD player that can do the job, or know of makes and models that can?

I don't think the encoding on a cd-extra as what the CHSIB cd single is, is the same coding as a vcd what plays in a dvd player. I don't think any dvd player can read that coding on the disc, but would loved to be proved wrong.

Hi Shane, All I know is that I have a top of the range Pioneer DVD, which according to the instructions is supposed to play all formats, including VCD, MPEG etc., but it doesn't. No matter how I set it up I only get sound, no picture, I was mightly aggravated as you can imagine. Some kind of code is placed within the disc I presume, which only allows you to play on your computer. :o

O dear O dear O dear. Time for me to stick my head in

I made a topic in the CHSIB Board a while ago which explains how to get the track from the CD to your HDD. The next step is to put this onto a CD-R as a VCD using Nero. Thats what I done when i made my VCD.

Hi JC, Yes I have Nero, didn't realise I could convert to a VCD I only use Nero for burning my own compilations. I'll try this later and see what happens - Cheers.

Yes, I remember, thank you. However, as I said at the top of this thread, I do not have a cd writer.

The CHSIB video CD as an example is a non-standard format because of the copy protection.
It won't play in any DVD player unless that player can read an ISO filesystem and ignores the additional sessions on that disc.

But this is OffTopic anyway.
