Eell Polarbear .. they stopped laying cable before they got to Sheffield where I live .. so it's not an option for me.

Satellite is expensive if you want anything more than the basics and endless repeats .. and I have to pay over £100 a year just for the privilege of having a TV in the house .. so I make do with the terrestrial channels :)

well we couldn't get satelite because of some trees apparently in the line of sight of the dish - so we plumbed for cable.
Somedays I really regret it - it seems that every day when I get in from work the Simpsons are on
as to what you get it really depends on what package you sign up to.
I've got the basic which are the terrestrial channels, plus sci fi, kids music , classics, gold

Luckily my parents pay for Sky. But there are too many channels. I wish you could pick and choose single channels, there's a lot of rubbish available. Especially the shopping channels. If the product is so good, why can't you buy them in the shops?

Being from a rural community, we don't got none of this 'ere cable stuff - although farmer giles has a new chicken - and that starts with the same letter!!!!

Only kidding, we can't get cable because so far, it isn't "cost-effective" to lay in our village. As i live in the bottom of the valley i cannot get Sky unless I pay over £200 to have an extension pole put on the chimney so the dish can be high enough to see round the corner of the valley!!!

And because there are some trees and stuff in the way, we cannot get channel 5 so i can only watch channels 1 - 4 except during rush hour when the buses outside cause picture interference!!!

~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~ apparently thinks it's funny that I said I can't really afford Sky ..
Perhaps I should qualify this by saying that I don't think it's worth the money. I don't think it's a matter for derision that anyone doesn't have unlimited funds .. I prefer to out mine to other uses.
Caryl,
I just thought of your last message today when listening to the radio. They were playing Bruce Springsteen - "57 channels and nothing on"!!!!
Well, it tickled me!!!
Heat - Yorkshire is gods own country. If parts of it can't get cable - so what. We make our own entertainment, and it doesn't involve sheep.
