Default Meat Loaf Interview

The Metro newspaper did a really quick Q&A with Meat Loaf, on monday i guess it was in tuesdays paper. I thought you might like to read it.

From his appearance in a 1969 staging of Hair via The Rocky Horrow Picture Show in the 1970's and, of course, his 30 million-selling Bat OUt Of Hell album, the formor Marvin Lee Aday has been a bombastic presence in the world of entertainment for more than three decades. His current tour, in support of his Couldn't Have Said It Better album, is billed as the lsat world tour.

Is this really your tour? i'm doing 175 shows in 16 months, which is a lot- and that's around the world, so you try and figure out the number of plane flights I goota take. Then i'm doing Bat III, so there'll be an event that takes place around that, but not a tour. This is it-there's going to be places where I wave goodbye when I leave.
Will it be emotional playing places for the last time? Your the first person to make me think of that... I should hang up on you for that! I haven't dealt with that. Thanks for bringing it up
Your music means an awful lot ot some peopleI heard a story about a guy in the UK that came out of a coma because his mother kept playing Bat Out Of Hell all day. Yeah, i'd come out of a coma too-I'd be screaming for someone to get that thing off!
So you've literally saved people's lives? The strangest one was a girl at an in-store signing at this big mall in Toronto, and she just handed me this letter in tears and walked away-apparently, one of the songs came onto the radio when she had a gun to her head. When I read that letter I thought, wwll, that's why I did Bat Out Of Hell- it saved one person's life, thats all it needed to do.
How does that make you feel?Y'know, i don't think i'm a neccessity, i'm a luxury. Neccessities for me are good mothers, good teachers and good doctors, because if you don't have good doctors you can't stay alive long enough to pay taxes.

there you go, i hope you enjoy

As a mother and a teacher (school librarian, but I have a teachers license, close enough!), I think that is a tremendously cool thing for Meat to say. He may not think he's a neccessity, but I know that my life would be much poorer without him, to be sure.
