Meat can do a really fab Elvis impersonation though! Especially if you hear him during Out Of The Frying Pan (on the live in Cardiff 1993 concert) when he is singing... I Wanna Take You... Wicked!!

I know that Meat is and was inspired by Elvis, so maybe thats why?

If you've ever seen Meat sing Dixie, as he did on the tribute to Elvis many years ago on television, you would have been forgiven for thinking that was Elvis singing then.

Alas I do not think this tribute was ever repeated

Does Meat not talk about meeting Elvis in his Autobiography? Or, at least one account ive heard, sounds like Elvis was pretty impressed by Meat!

Take care

In VH1 Classic Albums Jim did mention an Elvis quality (was that the right word, or was it something else? ........sure it was quality) about Meat's performances. What about in RHPS? Little glimpses of Elvis in him then? My Mam said Meat reminds her of Elvis, but I think she means performance wise, and my Mam's not the best person to talk to music wise

Meat does say in his autobiography that he was a massive Elvis fan, I think he's inspired Meat cos if u look at some of Elvis' music videos, the moves he does with the music are similiar to ones that Meat does on long instrumentals, little hand movements are similiar too.

Meat is inspired bij Elvis indeed and they have a lot in common.

The Elvis Tribute he did was back in 87. Unfortunately I did not have a videorecorder

I know a number of contributors to this thread have "pooh-poohed" (in the nicest possible way) the original suggestion. However I just want to add that at one point at Cardiff in early January I was watching the video screen during Meat's show and I swear I thought it was Elvis. I didn't think so before but after that experience I think the original poster may have a point! Carry on with the "pooh-poohing" now - I've had my say!!
