Fight Club
This is Fight Club. Feel free to exchange confrontational postings until doomsday.
seeing as i can't start a thread in fight club...i'll do it here.... 3 topics locked recently????? only moderators can post in fight club so we're not allowed to exchange confrontational postings...because if we were...the No More Shows would not have been locked then would it....Or maybe it's because someone dared not to post 'I love you Meat'.. 'I think your great'... |

I can agree with the essence of your sentiments to a point.

If things were a little more lighthearted, i'd be happy to sit back, grab a bag of popcorn and enjoy the night's entertainment , but i'm not seeing that.I'm just seeing people have a go at each other . I can see this site starting to fragmetate and that's a real shame.People are already leaving because of all the arguing. I've already posted most of this, but here's my 2 cents (for what it's worth) I am amazed that most of the fighting here isn't done on Off Topic.Everyone here has Meat in comon. It's usually when people look at the difference in each others lives that clashes happen. That doesn't seem to be the case here.It seems that everyone is happy to accept any view point or opinion on any given subject apart from the one thing that we have in common. What we disagree on set's us apart. What we have in common brings us closer together. Here it's the exact oposite . This is a Meat Loaf site. Remember Meat Loaf, Rock & Roll? Rock & Roll,Singing, dancing, beer & fun? Forget the bitching and back biteing I'm off to the Bat & Bellfry to play the juke at full blast, have a few pints and dance on the tables . *walks off singing GONNA HAVE A GOOD TIME TONIGHT.........* |

I've gone to replied to many posts lately and then thought, na, leave it, for various reasons. Even this one, but I'm getting more and more confused by the rules. and what is allowed and whats not.
I'm also confused to fight club. Has the rules changed there? Also probably get into trouble for this, but it does seem that anything in the slightest negative towards Meat is getting moved, locked or off to fight club. That in itself is causing bad feeling, I for one am feeling censored in what I can and cant post. Don't get me wrong I am not against Meat in anyway shape or form. Which brings me to anoher problem, where do the likes of me fit in with all this? Theres the people who very obviously worship and adore every single thing meat does and wont have a word said different, the theres the ones who do MAYBE come here to cause trouble but IMO they are few and far bewteen. Then theres the ones who as I see it (and this is my opinion) who dont have as much of a problem as most of you think (or even dont have a problem at all) but just question why we all have to just sing Meats praises. Surely discusion is about all aspects? Not every thing is good, and not everything is bad. As I said to someone the other day, hubby and the kids all watch footy, they all see it different, yet they dont carry on like this, they just accept the other one thinks this, or that, or whatever if you get my drift. On Kasims list a while back after his last solo gig, someone came on and posted pretty neg stuff about it, it could of turned nasty bu we all exceped her view and carried on like normal human beings, we didnt try and ram down her throat that she has to be wrong! Kasim could never play a bad gig, or an even off one, god forbid. or tell her if thats what she thinks she should keep it to herelf. Its a place to discuss kasim, as this is Meat and discuss does not just mean agree and say nice things all the time. Some people like one song more than another, does it make the next person wrong? I'd like to think i come into this catagory, but does that make me less intitled to an opinion? I think because I'm in this catagory I see things far more fairly than those from both other sides do. And i am also being made to feel that because I can see the "bad Peoples" points now and again, that I am not a fan, which is toal crap, theres just different levels of it. Guppie has summed a lot of how i feel up lately in a few of her posts. I also know there are many many others out there like me, who are not trouble makers, or dont hate Meat. But are sick and tired of all this. Telling people they cant say it or locking threads or what ever isnt gonna make any of it go away, In fact as far as i can se its having the complete opposite effect. people are very very frustrated on all sides of the fence. I thoguht fight club was the place to be able to vent this. But if we cant post there how we feel, where can we? I also wouldnt think that because i dont agree with the masses here, that everything Meat does is right, means I should go to a I hate Meat site lol. I do think meat has acted badly in the way he's responded (not wanting another discussion on the different opinions here ) that doesnt mean I dont think as much of him as some of you. And I feel that those who dont agree are really being made to look bad towards meat here. When its really not the case. I agree with all your comments so far on different parts of it. But I dont think stopping people saying how they feel is the way forward |

It the time old discussion about interpreation and not what you say but how you say it, tone manner adjectives chosen etc.
I have never said not to post how you feel only do it with some consideration to both the artist and other fans. Personally I can understand why Meat has reacted in the manner he has, becasue he can see that every plus that is used for him is undermined one way or another. My take is if I see or hear something I don't like or disagre wih or even feel is outrageous, I for my own convictions need to speak out, because if I don't I am condoning it or in some way a party to it. Not liking or not agreeing is one thing - unnecessary critiques imo another altogether. |

In brief, cause my mind and body are totally warn our......
Its also about how others interpert what they think the people with neg opinions are saying, i'm not just talking about the ones some see as really bad neg posts. My example on the Kasim list could of turned exactly the same way as the ones on here, bu didnt. Deb |

but then again I don't think that saying that Meat's voice is dreadful or saying that songs were not performed well or the various other things that have been said over time becasue I'm not just referring to recent things, I don't think these comments leave much room for interpretation.

My intention of the Fight Club was something different.
I always had the impression (and I got proved very wrong) that some kind of a laissez-faire policy - with regard to Meat's age and therefore the maturity of his fans - would probably be the best to get something like this going. It wasn't. The more people joined, the more aggression showed up. As I wasn't easy about simply censoring and deleting posts (and I'm still not), I thought an area way back in the dark background of the forums would help people to settle their arguments. It didn't help. I had the chance to get to know some of you people, and everyone I met was very reasonable, grown up with clever thoughts, good manners and behaviour. But sometimes, reading the messages here, I'm just blinking -> <- just like this litttle guy and I'm wondering: Who are these people? Back to business: The Fight Club will stay, as far as I'm concerned, but it will be monitored very close now. Threads moved there are "in before the lock". hotmail.com and yahoo.com email accounts are no longer valid for signing up. This does not affect existing accounts. I do however encourage everyone to exchange their yahoo or hotmail account to a 'real' email address, as you might have trouble changing your profile settings. And just to clarify, the days of Free speech are gone. Free speech yes, but within the forum rules. Anything posted only likely to provoke an argument, flamewar or simply an "unpleasant noise" on the website gets you banned. You don't believe me? I have kicked out 4 people with 6 userids so far. Some permanently, some not. Finally, excuse my rant. But at the end of the day it was me who built this website and it still is me who's maintaining it and I do reserve the right to post a rant like this from time to time. That's all folks. Go on. |

Well done R. I hope the new measures in place will work - I like it here as the majority of people are so friendly. Personally, I don't like to read agressive postings - I avoid those threads like the plague! This is my sanctuary from reality!
Sultonfan - a userid is the 'name' people use on here. R. has 'kicked out' people using more than one user identity. |

I agree with what has been said above. Thank you R for letting us know what is happening. I have also felt the need to avoid following various threads as they have become argumentative and insulting. This is not what, I believe, most people want. Let's hope the arguments do stop.
