Hi folks,

Just to say how pissed off I have been with the way the tone on these forums seems to ahve fallen from being a place where fans could talk about meat to being overshadowed by people continually fighting and bitching about each other.

I for one am pig-sick of this and have decided that this is no longer a place where I feel I can relax or chill. Therefore this will be my last post on here. i am sorry it has come to this and over the four years that I have been around I have made some great friends on here.

I was originally going to post this last night after finally making my decision but decided to wait 24 hours before doing anything rash. (an approach which if used by some others, would cut dramatically the number of arguements on here.) However, this morning I still feel the same.

I'm sorry to see you leave but I do understand why- it is getting tough to relax and enjoy each others company here. I've enjoyed getting to know you here, thanks for our "culinary exchange"- I'm now officially hooked on UK choccies, and I hope your dressing from America arrives at any moment. I hope that eventually things will mellow here and we can all enjoy spending time on the forums again.

It's really strange.I always thought that Off Topic would be the most likely place for arguments.We all have Meat on common, it's when people look closer at who they are talking to, and see the differences that there is usually trouble.
It seems these days that everyone can tolerate each others differences on more contraversial subjects, but can't do the same on the subject that brought us all here

Anyway Chris, don't forget there's always a pint already pulled with your name on it on the bar of The Bat & Bellfry if you ever reconsider

I can quite understand how you feel and have been feeling pretty much the same myself. I like, respect and admire you, you have given me strength and support made me laugh and listened to me cry, I thank you and sincerely hope we can keep in touch.

I cannot claim to have the long history here that you have, but I first started looking at this site in the summer of ’02, however at that time I did not feel comfortable enough to play a part.
Then at the beginning of last year I jumped in with both feet and I liked what I had found, a great supportive group who were bound by the threads of an artist with a wonderfully great talent, an artist who felt comfortable in our presence, who shared news, thoughts and feelings. It was truly fantastic.
Then the swipes and the snipes started, and anyone who wanted to preserve what we had and say that they didn’t agree with this, had to hold their piece or be accused of asskissing, obsessiveness or trouble making.

So instead of being nipped in the bud it continued and eventually the Man who had gathered us all together became so hurt and upset with what was allowed to continue, that he no longer feels he can come here as he used to.

I have never seen the need for flagrant unnecessary criticism of Meat or anyone. I don’t think it has a place in this type of community and if it does then it is imo not one that should appear to be supported by other fans and members. In my book standing by and letting it go on, lets it happen and rather than unspoken condemnation of it, it can be taken as support. This is why I for one have spoken out when I have felt the need.

I have made so many good friends far and wide through these boards and would miss them all terribly, but know there are other ways of keeping in touch, which we all do.
I too have considered leaving because I no longer have the stomach for the continual picking apart of Meat and every effort I make being dismissed. Last night I too thought long and hard about continuing here and for now I have reached the decision that while I can be a voice and stand up and be counted I shall continue to do so.

Chris, although I probably don't mean as much to you as alot of other people on here do, but heres my tear for you!! Some how I can't help feel responsable and so along with my tear I give you 101 sorry's!! I just hope that all this will pass soon and you will come back to give us all virtual hugs!! And if/when you do come back i'll have you a beer chilling in the fridge, in the Bat and Bellfry!!! I hope that your actions will make people understand what is going on and will hopfully make all this sh*t stop!!

I would like to say how sorry I was to see this post. Chris you will be missed by a lot of people. I have always enjoyed reading your posts and will miss them greatly. As sin says though, there are other ways to keep in touch with the friends you have made.

sorry to see you go chris, you will be truly missed, many of your posts have fetched a smile to my face, which of late has been hard to do

But i to can understand the way you feel.
It really is sad, the warmth i felt that encouraged me to join here not to long ago, has long since turned cool and if it goes any cooler we will all be needing thermals and getting frost bite...sorry, i have a warped sense of humour, anyhow, i thought it may of just been me being paronoid but obviously not.
take care chris, hope to see you return with the warm weather, hope it isn't long in coming.

this is eventually what the bickering causes

i know if you read my leaving thread i done a while back, i know exactly how you are feeling mate

but its obvious you have decided,

all i can say is everyone who is bickering carry on bickering if you want no problem there,

and lose a great deal more of us while your at it

we have already lost the great man we come on here to discuss,

his music , his life, his shows not just that everything we know and love about him, that is why we are here,

and now we have lost another dear friend our very own Chris,

who WILL be missed very much

dont forget if it wasnt for Meat,

, we all would never of met such lovely people as we have on here

that is all i want to say, Meat and Chris will miss you both loads,

hope you do come back one day,

But we must hold on 'till it all calms down.

Chris, I sincerely hope you'll reconsider your decision eventually 'cause the gap you left will never be replaced.

It is the "older" established members of the forum that are being driven away, those who would not dream of posting abusive posts or of causing trouble , how has it come to this?

i hope a solution is found and that the forum will once again be the happy place it once was to visit, somewhere to relax unwind, have fun and exchange thoughts and ideas with friends.

I can really understand Chris' feeling on this because it's a lot of the same thing that I'm feeling too. All the bickering has made it no longer fun to come here to talk about Meat and his music. That IS sad. I'm at the point that if I come here anymore it's to go to the off topic threads and I only post there on the couple of threads I read.

But I'll miss ya Chris.

This is so sad... I've not visited mlukfc board for a short while, mostly because the board is so slow (must be my internet-connection, takes about 30 sec before I can post or read a topic).

I've been a member for quite some time now. The amount of members doubled, no, tripled... And the board changed a lot. So many new faces and then the fighting started, over and over again.

And now Chris leaves...
It just isn't the same anymore.

I browsed and then joined the site when Meat was poorly. Although I tend to lurk in the background, as a lot of people had built up a rapport, I felt welcomed and gladdened at all the support Meat was given. The whole site felt like one unit gathering together to share fears and thoughts and hopes. I don't come on too often now as I find it quite depressing and soul destroying and feel that life has given me enough worries of my own without witnessing slanging matches on a site that was so supportive before. I also now feel that it makes people not want to join in with comments for fear of reprisals. I am sorry Chris that you feel you have to leave but hopefully things will come good again.
