Default what is your top five songs?

Mine are: (they'll change soon enough). Describe the song too, like the story behind it, if they have one.

1. Moonlight shadow: Mike Oldfeild

this is a song about death. It sings about a girl losing her one and only love in a murder. This song is quite fast and happy sounding for this genre but It has a mysterious twist to it. Beautiful acoustic guitar and electrical guitar solo.

2. Imagine: John Lennon

This is one of the most famous songs of all time. Tells the listener to look deep inside their soul and helps make them realise the pain in the world. Sung by the genius John Lennon, my hero. Not bad looking either! Amazing dreamy tune and wonderful piano work.

3. Love Grows (where my rosemary goes): edison Lighthouse

My theme tune. A very happy jumpy tune, a song to smile at. About a boy singing about this girl who is a bit strange but unique and carefree. Good song to sing at a kareoke bash.

4. What a wonderful world: Louis Armstrong

What a wonderful song. i cried when i first heard it. Wonderful song. The lyrics are so true. When i die, I want this sung at my funeral. Its a song that'll be with me forever. Very short, but an epic. Its not about love. Its not about anything complicated. its about the simple world. Simple but a true classic.

5. All we are singing (is give peace a chance): John Lennon

the siren song of peace corps everywhere. Its true, I can't help but clap along with it, and wish i could go up to that oily git tony blair and play this song in front of him. (I HATE TONY BLAIR). this song makes me so happy too. It makes me smile so much.

What are yours?

1. Ben E. King - Stand By Me

This song is simply one of the most beautiful things ever put to celluloid. The strings in the middle eight make me cry every time. I can't explain how wonderful but how simple this song is.

2. The Smiths - There is a Light that Never Goes Out

The most tragic, but moving love song I've heard in a long time.
It's worth it's place just for the lines "And if a ten ton truck, kills the both of us/ to die by your side/ the pleasure, the privelage is mine".

3. Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart

Words canot describe the wonder of this song. Go, listen now.

4. The La's - There She Goes

Simle, catchy, wonderful, even if it is about heroin.

5. Leonard Cohen - Hallelujah

"I heard there was a secret chord/ that David played and it pleased the Lord/ But you don't really care for music, do you?". Genius.

"I've seen your flag on the marble arch / Love is not a victory march / It's a cold and it's a broken / Hallelujah" I *adore* the cover Rufus Wainwright did on the Shrek soundtrack. Great song.

Anywayz, my top 5 changes every day, so this is on todays menu:

Ayreon - Dawn Of A Million Souls
Slightly alternative take on how life in the universe came to be. Great singing by Russell Allen and Damian Wilson.

Steve Baron (Tanz der Vampire) - Die Unstillbare Gier
Shivers down my spine everytime I hear this. Best vocal performance of this song, like, ever.

Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
"Show a little faith, there's magic in the night / You ain't a beauty, but hey, you're alright / Ooh and that's alright with me"

Lana Lane - Secrets Of Astrology
Great prog-rock track. 8 minutes of pure joy.

Bruce Dickinson - Tears Of The Dragon
"My emotions, frozen in an icy lake / I couldn't feel them / Until the ice began to break"

You won't be alone with Supertramp! I love Supertramp, but I think their greatest song is Crime Of The Century!!!

I have a friend who is one of the biggest Tramp-fan! Once he said: "Who is the truly man??? Who is jumping in the first line in a Supertramp concert and drinking lot of beer and having a pee into his leather trousers there!"

He did! You won't go to the toilet in the concert of your fav band!!! :)

Mine change on a regular basis.

I guess the five that I would always come back to are (in no paticular order):

The Last Night On The World (A solo Saxophone) from Miss Saigon The Musical
A really touching song about two lovers from different cultures pledging to stay together always

Hazzard - Richard marx
A great song, sort of a suicide-pact feeling running through it
"I swear i left her by the river/ I swear i left her safe and sound / I need to make it to the river / And live this old Nebraska town"

Only Women Bleed - Alice Cooper
My all time favourite song ever!! I would give my right arm for the chance to hear this live. Starts off very slow and sympathetic and then switches to loud and brash as tho telling it from the male and female perspective

What Colour Is The Wind Daddy - Charlie Landsbrough
The lyrics are here. I am not sure why I like this but I do!!

The Dance - Garth Brooks
The was me and Kelli's song. A really really sad song.
Our lives are better left to chance / I could Have missed the pain / But i'd had to miss the dance"

1 Meat - AFL
2 Meat - BOOH
3 Meat - GGGTH
4 Meat - OOTFP
5 Meat - IJWQ

One thing, though: I don't get the story behind GGGTH Can anyone help me? :)
My fave thing about IJWQ (Meat version only) is the start of the instrumental after the first chorus, about the first five seconds. To me it feels like I'm on Space Mountain, when the ride is just about to start, and you feel the motor starting to run and the g force kick in slowly, then BANG!!!!! you're off!!!!!!!!

It seems the simplest way to answer this is to give my top 5 non meat loaf songs and then my top five meat loaf songs. Here we go (in no particular order)...

1.) Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart.
Great song, no particular reason, just the shivers that run down the spine as it plays says it all.
2.) Rolling Stones - Satisfaction.
Possibly not their most acomplished song but the ultimate anthem and no which shows no sign of aging.
3.) Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run.
Album version is great but even better is the live acoustic version (not sure whether it's available on cd or just via download), it's an amazing slowed down version which is truly beautiful.
4.) The Undertones - Teenage Kicks.
Possibly my favourite song of all time. Uplifting, brilliant.
5.) Nirvana - All Apologies.
I've seen a fair bit of criticism for Nirvana on this board but listen to the unplugged version of this song and most people would be hard pressed to question its beauty and heart felt vocals.

Top 5 Meat Loaf songs (again no particular order):
1.) For Crying Out Loud.
Beautiful, Meat's vocals appear stretched to the limit time and time again and yet still he keeps going and produces an awesome song.
2.) All Revved Up.
I love this song, so lively and uplifting, was gutted when sax solo was replaced on the live album.
3.) Bat
Quite possibly the greatest rock song of all time.
4.) Objects in the rear view mirror.
Similar in many ways to FCOL in its heart wrenching delivery, great song.
5.) Out Of The Frying Pan...
Great song, only improved by the version on BOOH wth MSO.

Good list but feel gutted to have left out the likes of Paradise, Modern Girl, Surfs Up and Where The Rubber Meets The Road. So many songs, so littel space to choose...

That is hard, there are so many great songs, and i like music so very much, hard to choose, but at the moment:

1. Out Of The Frying Pan (And Into The Fire) - Meat Loaf
Yeah... just one hell of a song. Great lyrics, describes my life from time to time so well hahha.

2. Pretty Angry - Blues Traveler
Huge Blues Traveler fan, great blues/rock band. Song about the pain and unbelieve of a bandmember who died

3. Who Wants To Live Forever - Queen
What can i say... such a beautifull song

4. She Talks To Angels - Black Crowes
Black Crowes are very good, beautifull song and music, haven't got the time to read the lyrics.

5. Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
Great song, really good and nice guitar playing.

Well, actually i like music a lot, hard to choose. Meat Loaf and Blues Traveler are the artist/band which i like most.
